23.01.2022 Good afternoon all, Regarding the COVID-19, commonly know as coronovirus: Just a bit of update at this stage we are not considering postponing the Black dog ride on Sunday as it is highly unlikely we will hit the 500 people mark.... We do ask that if you are feeling unwell or believe you are in the risk factor then please consider staying home. This is being monitored on a regular basis and if there are any changes we will provide further updates as soon as we can. A Final decision will be made tomorrow (Saturday) as more information comes in. The decision will be made on FACTS received and Riders safety will be the first priority. https://www.who.int//novel-coronavirus-2/advice-for-public

11.01.2022 Raising awareness and enjoying a ride with mates is a great way to start a conversation about mental health. On this sunny Sunday morning, the Wollongong 1 Dayer Black Dog Ride did just that. #uowcreative Black Dog Ride - Wollongong 1 Dayer

06.01.2022 Last year we got one of these one of a kind saw-blade treasures and auctioned it. This year it's a raffle. Everyone registered will get a ticket, so come and claim your ticket with you patch and sticker. Can you get more and support the cause? YES!... One ticket $ 2 Six tickets $10 We do, of course, like the idea of saving time. Why not get together with some mates and buy a book of 100 tickers for $150. We're looking at drawing this prize at 11am in Thirlmere. Make sure you are there so you wont miss out if we call your number. You'll have 2 minutes to claim.

03.01.2022 An early shot from John Keogh from today more to come

03.01.2022 Does riding a motorbike cure depression? My take is that it is not a cure, but while you're on it, it is very difficult to be depressed. With that in mind, I feel that Black Dog Ride riders are the perfect ambassadors for the challenge of raising awareness of depression and suicide prevention. ... My thanks to all of you joining the ride on Sunday and to the people in your lives that support you. I'm looking forward to riding with you on Sunday. =============================================== "You see things vacationing on a motorcycle in a way that is completely different from any other. In a car you're always in a compartment, and because you're used to it you don't realise that through that car window everything you see is just more TV. You're a passive observer and it is all moving by you boringly in a frame. On a cycle the frame is gone. You're completely in contact with it all. You're in the scene, not just watching it anymore, and the sense of presence is overwhelming. That concrete whizzing by 5 inches below your foot is the real thing, the same stuff you walk on, it's right there, so blurred you can't focus on it, yet you can put your foot down and touch it anytime, and the whole experience, is never removed from immediate consciousness." 02.01.2022 We have been carefully monitoring state and national advice regarding the Corona Virus, and have decided that our 1 Dayers will go ahead tomorrow as planned. W...e know that some people are concerned about the Corona Virus. If you are concerned, we urge you to make your own decision about whether or not you attend our 1 Dayer. You should do your own research on this topic, but here is some basic information for you about what you can do to minimise the risk of infection. Cold and Flu (and Corona Virus) Prevention: First, please don't panic. The advice we have is that the Cold, the Flu, and the Corona Virus are all "droplet" transmitted - meaning they are not airborne. So transmission happens through: -contact - for example, shaking someone's hand, then at some point touching your nose, mouth, or rubbing your eyes. -being close to someone when they sneeze or cough without covering their mouth. Because of this the World Health Organisation recommends personal protective measures like: -Regular hand washing with proper drying of the hands -Good respiratory hygiene covering mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, using tissues and disposing of them correctly -Early self-isolation of those feeling unwell, feverish and having other symptoms of influenza -Avoiding close contact with sick people -Avoiding touching one’s eyes, nose or mouth The contents of this statement is provided as general information only. You should do your own research on the spread of disease and consult your medical professional for advice.
