19.01.2022 PLEASE DON'T THROW THOSE UNWANTED CLOCKS AWAY I must admit, I cringe if ever I see an old clock thrown out. Many people don't like them for various reasons, but... please let me know if you no longer require any old timepieces. They could be used for spare parts or hopefully one day a museum, which many people would really enjoy. Clocks bring back many memories for many people. See more

08.01.2022 Probably the most magical Christmas tree ornament you can have are the glass baubles from the tiny village of Lauscha. Even Queen Victoria was a big fan. https://bit.ly/2Ey2u4G

07.01.2022 Sometime ago I was talking with an elderly gentleman and he mentioned he had two old cuckoo clocks which he no longer wanted. There was no way he would leave th...em to his children, as they would be most likely thrown out. He offered them both to me, as one day I would love to somehow set up a museum. Talk about some history. People often say how they would like to have been a fly on the wall, well how about being a clock on the wall? By the way, there are many stories with clocks especially from during the war years. On receiving the cuckoo clocks, one of them had a sticker which had been placed on the back. On closer inspection it was a label from a workshop in the Nederlands. It was time to Google.... This very clock came from the premises of the Ten Boom family. Their clockmaking business was used as a hiding place during the war. One of the daughters, Corrie ten Boom was the first ever registered Dutch female watchmaker. Her story is sad but fascinating, and well worth reading about. There is plenty to Google or books available to read. Corrie is an inspiration and wrote many books. Even after all the atrocities of the war, she was still able to offer an incredible forgiveness.
