24.01.2022 Third trip in 14 days to Mountain Fresh Trout and Salmon Farm. The Rainbow and Golden trouts are our favourites for eating. Not only is it a great dinner option, but the kids love doing it. It's such a fun activity. Sometimes it takes 15 minutes to catch a fish and sometimes it takes an hour. It's only 6km out of Harrietville and there is cycling path all the way there.

24.01.2022 How many times have you driven into Bright & Surrounds and seen the signs for the Red Stag Deer and Emu farm? It's a lovely family outing. The views are second to none, the residents love a scratch on the nose and a bit of grain fed to them. Worth a visit next time you're in time.

18.01.2022 Lots of people tell me they've never been to the Wandi Pub. It's an absolute must when you're visiting the Alpine region. They have terrific music, a great chef (way beyond parmas - think roasted cauli butternut pumpkin salad), a terrific wine list and plenty of local beer and cider. My absolute favourite part of the pub is the backyard. 10.01.2022 A visit to Bright and Harrietville is incomplete unless you have hung out at the The Harrietville Snowline Hotel for a cold bevvy and some truly amazing food. The Head Chef Ciaran Tedford puts a blend of pub classics on the menu. Think plump parmas, steak night and Sunday roasts, mixed with some amazing gastronomic pub meals like the pumpkin curry and naan and my personal fave, the grazing platter of local produce. Do yourself a favour and make sure you include a lunch or dinner stop here when you are in town. Bring your Empty Esky and an empty stomach. 04.01.2022 Have you ever wanted to hike The Razorback, Mt Hotham down to Harrietville? Caro from Lotsafreshair takes us through this fantastic walk. Arguably one of the best 1-2 day hikes in Victoria (but we're biased). You'll finish your hike at the Bungalow Spur track - about 500 metres from Black Mamba's door. 02.01.2022 The start of the Bungalow Spur track heading up to #Feathertop is just a short walk from Black Mamba House. There are lots of great hiking options heading up this track. Sometimes I do a trail run a couple of kms up. Or we take the kids on a leisurely stroll, when we know we won't get far and have plenty of time and patience. But when you have the whole day, pack a sandwich and a protein bar, head up to Feathertop and enjoy the views. Along the way, you will find the old Feat...hertop Hut site, which was often used as a base for skiing back in the 30s. Check out some of the history of the Feathertop Hut at australianmountains.com/feathertop. For all the hikers and runners, I will post a few more hiking options in coming days.
