23.01.2022 We slurped some seriously amazing coffees yesterday, in preparation for replacing our single origin offerings. Sourcing new coffees is perhaps the most exciting part of operating a coffee roastery but it can be difficult to find coffees we absolutely love. 22.01.2022 Something we've learned over the years is that there are a lot of ways to achieve your goals. For us, we've always been open about clear vision: to share the best coffees we can find with as many people as possible. Today, we are taking a great leap toward seeing this become a reality: Laika Roasters has officially acquired Black Matter Coffee. From a Laika perspective, we've been fans of Tristan and the team at Black Matter for a long time. Their commitment to quality and a...ttention to detail have seen them achieve a strong following in the local coffee scene throughout Perth. Not only does Black Matter share similar values to ours at Laika, but we feel that the trails we are blazing are one and the same. With this in mind, bringing the Black Matter brand and the team on board to Laika Roasters was a logical step on our path to growing toward bigger and better things. As of today, all Black Matter customers will be serving Laika. We promise to keep the same commitment to quality and attention to detail that has made Black Matter a lasting presence in the Perth coffee scene for so many years. From a Black Matter perspective, Laika has been one of the few select roasters in Perth that we have admired, with their unique ethos around sourcing coffees and highlighting producers, and approach to coffee that is both authentic and playful. This is a very exciting step for us and there will be little sprinkles of Black Matter in everything that happens at Laika! 11.01.2022 New coffee from Pedro! Pedro Gabarra Teixeira is the 5th generation of coffee growers in his family. We first met Pedro when he hosted a cupping in our roastery a few years ago with the team from @minas_hill_coffee. We’ve seen him a couple of times subsequently and it’s always amazing to catch up with him, discuss coffee and have a laugh. This coffee is one of our favourite ever Brazil’s and we nailed it on the first roast which is always nice! Check it out at the link in our profile.

Clean, sweet and the acidity you would expect from this region. Since we've moved to the new roastery our filter roasts have gone to a new level on the Loring roaster.
