24.01.2022 WE’VE GOT A LOGO! We just want to give a huge shout out and a massive thank you to Kimberly at K-Rae Designs for designing our new logo. Whilst I’ve designed logos for other people, designing a logo for your own baby is hard work. I was never ‘happy’ and found myself always tweaking it and making edits. ... As soon as we seen these, we knew we were set!

24.01.2022 We’ve been quiet but that’s because we are enjoying our holidays and time off. We couldn’t help but log back in to share this awesome news about author Adam Thompson’s upcoming book Born Into This. In less than a month's time, Adam’s debut short-story collection, 'Born Into This' will be released.... 'Born Into This' is a collection of short, fictional stories set in Lutruwita (Tasmania). The title story is about a girl who escapes the grind to do her own bit to heal a world ravaged by environmental and cultural destruction. 22.01.2022 We would like to pay our respects and send our deepest love and condolences to the family and friends of the late Auntie Ollie Ralph-Pyke. Auntie Ollie was loved by so many and had such a wide impact on all of those she met. Auntie was passionate about the plight of her people both back home on the Murray River and here in lutruwita/Tasmania. A proud Wadi Wadi, Mutti Mutti, Wemba Wemba, Wagaia woman adopted by our Community but strong and proud of her own identity. Your pas...sion for life, your humour and the mischief you would create will be missed by all. We are so sorry you never got to join our growing Creative family but trust our Old People had better plans. Go gently as the flowing waters of the Murray River sing you back home Auntie. 19.01.2022 Shout out to our beautiful sister who has been listed in Cool Accidents ‘10 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Rising Stars to Keep an Eye on’. DENNI’s music draws from her experience as part of the Tasmanian Aboriginal community and is her way of healing. She's an advocate for social change, which is reflected in her latest single featuring Greeley, Murder. Speaking about her approach to music, DENNI says she focuses on the importance of truth-telling in this country ab...out our true history. She's able to shift between hip-hop and indie-pop music and is one of Australia's most important voices. In November last year DENNI also won Tasmanian Aboriginal Artist of the Year at the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre’s NAIDOC Ball in Launceston. Check her out and support her music

The loss in lutruwita/Tasmania following invasion and colonisation was almost absolute and the devastating impacts are still deeply felt today. However, the culture is strong and it is thriving, and Tasmanian Aboriginal people are achieving so much in a variety of professions. 14.01.2022 It’s great to see the government taking some leadership in protecting Aboriginal arts and cultural practices, although it’s concerning to hear up to 80% of items sold were fakes made in sweatshops abroad. Blackspace Creative is proud of the fact our cultural arts and crafts are made and sold by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists right here in lutruwita/Tasmania. These items are sourced sustainably and sold authentically through our online store which means you are directly supporting the artist and Aboriginal business.

06.01.2022 WHAT A YEAR! From our family to your family; we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. We shut our Launceston store last night to conclude our Very Blak Christmas pop-up shops and are so grateful for the support and love that was shared with us over the series of pop-ups.... In the three months we have been operating we have sold over $25,000 in palawa arts, cultural crafts and knowledges with a very large percentage being transferred directly to the artist. We’ve sent orders throughout lutruwita/Tasmania and right across Australia. Our artists and their stories have been shared with over 110 individual customers. We are overwhelmed by the support we’ve received this year and look forward to continuing to share this journey with you all next year. nayri nina-tu/thank you.
