17.01.2022 The grinder that helps us bring specialty coffee to life. This is the Ek43 coffee grinder, manufactured (of course) by a German company called @Mahlkonig. Have you ever stood at the counter of one of our stores (or any specialty coffee store for that matter) and wondered what this beast is for and why we use it? (For those who dont know the detailed story of the Ek43 and why it matters, just google EK43 Part One and read the blog post by @mattperger the Aussie legend who... took the coffee word by storm when he used it to do magic tings at the World Barista Finals in 2013). Our mission at Blackstar is - to bring specialty coffee to life. The easiest, simplest way to explain the EK43s role in this mission, is that it grinds coffee into veryyy even size particles and when you use these grinds to brew, you get higher levels of extraction. Which means, you get more of that given coffee, in the cup. And if the coffee bean is banging, then... you get more banging.
