25.01.2022 It’s been a very big day at Blackwood Street as our big Kookaburras yard project was completed. Whilst we are a teeny bit sad to say goodbye to our natural grass we are thrilled with our new Astro turf. A big thank you to No Mow for completing the job so efficiently and for answering lots of questions for our curious children!

25.01.2022 Congratulations to Julie on receiving recognition as our Employee of the month. As a permanent float, Julie is seen across all rooms and areas within the centre. Julie is very dependable, has a positive attitude and is very team oriented. Well done Julie.

24.01.2022 The Children’s Christmas Party today was a huge success. This was only possible due to the great effort from our fabulous Educators, Families and Children. We would like to thank the fantastic businesses from the local community for their kind donations made for our raffles.

24.01.2022 FRIDAY 2ND AUGUST 2019 Jeans for Genes Day Join us in wearing your genes to Blackwood Street Early Learning next Friday to help raise funds and awareness for Childrens Medical Research Institute to help find treatments and cures for childrens genetic diseases. A gold donation would be greatly appreciated to help with this cause.

23.01.2022 Exciting news! Yesterday was National Tree Day (28/07/19)! National Tree Day is a call to action for all Australians to put their hands in the earth and give back to their community. At Blackwood Street Early Learning, we have set up a display in the foyer with our centre hands and natural materials. Throughout the week, we will have plants in reused milk bottles for families to take. These plants have grown from cuttings which we have propagated or from donations from our lo...cal community. We have also made a short blurb with information of how to care for the plants which is attached under the hessian . Please take a plant home and continue to educate your children about the environment. These milk bottles could continue to pot your plant however, they will need some holes in the bottom for drainage. If you have questions about these plants, please see Brittany and Paula in the Joeys room! Please remember to recycle your milk bottle when you are finished with them. Also please supervise your children while in the foyer to ensure the plants are well kept for other families. See more

21.01.2022 Hello everyone! You may have heard of a great initiative, Lids4kids! A nationwide project to collect plastic lids for an Australian not-for-profit organisation, Envision Hands. Envision Hands use the lids from milk, water, juice and soft drink bottles to recreate hand and arm mobility aids for children. Using the Woolworths Earn and Learn stickers collection boxes, Blackwood Street Early Learning will begin collecting these in the foyer of the centre. Please clean lids and ...drop them into our foyer to help support the community. 16.01.2022 As it is Child Protection Week this week, our Educators within our service have been embedding learning to all children in relation to keeping themselves safe. To coincide with this learning, the children were very excited to see a Policeman and his Police Car visit us today. A big thank you to one of our families for organising their Poppa (Inspector Joe) for the visit.

14.01.2022 This week, all of our wonderful Educators have been kept busy embedding an enriched learning program focussed around The Children's Book Council of Australia "Book Week". From story telling to creating our own stories, these experiences gave the children the opportunity to explore and engage with literacy in personally meaningful ways. Today we celebrated this occasion with a Book Week dress up day and our amazing Chef Vandna created our meals around specific story books.

We would like to congratulate Lisa for her commitment and dedication over the past 30 years at BSEL. Lisa has played a huge role in the lives of many children and their families, which includes a second generation attending the centre. What comes to mind when I see Lisa engaging with her peers and children - Gentle, kind, organised, reliable, great communicator, children love her, enthusiastic, energetic, creative, thoughtful, efficient, shows initiative, great collaborator, friendly - the list goes on! Congratulations Lisa.

09.01.2022 Thank you again to everyone that participated in the Childrens Art Show. Through the sales from the event and generous donations at the Show along with generous sponsorship from Harvey Norman Oxley, we have been able to replace our faulty kitchen cooker with a brand new unit (pictured still in its box). We will be installing the unit asap. Children can look forward to Chef being able to cook a wider variety of items in a shorter amount of time with the new oven. While this is great news for parents wanting cakes or cupcakes baked for your childs birthday, which are ordered through the office, it will also be particularly useful every day for creating nutritious meals for all the children.

Don't forget to request more raffle tickets from the office to sell if you have already sold the booklet you had. Kerry is always ready to go above and beyond for the children and families within our centre.
