15.01.2022 At first, it seems surprising that God would announce His Son’s arrival to shepherds rather than to kings, emperors or the religious elite. But see what Micah 5:4 says about Jesus: ‘He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth’ It makes sense that the arrival of the Shepherd king would be announced to Shepherds.

One that would place her at odds with the world and put her at risk of being treated as an adulterous woman. After all, she did agree to become pregnant as an unmarried woman. This was a big deal in first century Israel. Her choice placed her at risk of being at odds with the world. BUT, her obedient choice aligned her with Almighty God and His purposes. Are you willing to make choices that will align you with God, but will place you at odds with the world? What courageous choices will you make today?
