25.01.2022 Remember if you are planning to bring the Easter bunny home this year, its important to remember that rabbits can be up to a 10 year commitment. Bunnies are not always easy work but can thrive and be amazing pets when you give them the time they deserve. If you are looking to give a home to a precious bun or just would like some more information about making your home rabbit friendly, give us a call so we can point you in the right direction. This is Pepper the cross breed rabbit who was adopted through SA Rabbit rescue last year by a staff member. Stay safe and healthy this Easter and remember for emergencies call 72313000.

17.01.2022 When all the hard work comes together, another successful insemination confirmed this morning.

17.01.2022 What a great start to the year! Congratulations to Sniper and Hardog Kennels with 8 puppies from frozen semen all the way from the Netherlands. Timing is vital when it comes to inseminations so being available 24/7 certainly helps the process.

The owners used our services which include boarding your bitch at the clinic while we do the progesterone tests until she is ready to be inseminated. It means we can keep everyone safe and continue being able to provide a high standard of care regardless of what you need us for. He also wanted to remind you that we are a locally owned small business and truly appreciate all your support. We are currently operating normal opening hours. So from all of us at Blakes Vet Surgeries - thank you, stay safe and lets all keep washing our hands!

10.01.2022 Congratulations to the owners of these cuties we welcomed into the world today via caesarian.

09.01.2022 Some of our happy (crazy) faces this morning before breakfast time. Some harder to keep still than others.

08.01.2022 To continue to keep our staff and clients safe at this time. We please ask that you phone for patient updates rather than visit.

06.01.2022 Did you know that rabbits, squirrels and rodents teeth never stop growing? This is why its important to supply them with the right types of food like hay, leaves and bark so that they can naturally wear them down. This is our friend Poy Poy who had a quick surgery to give his little teeth a trim so he could eat comfortably again.

05.01.2022 Doctor Victoria had an unusual visitor today. This is Spike, hes a beautiful bearded dragon! At 10 years old this guy found himself needing the tip of his tail amputated. Did you know that bearded dragons, unlike many lizards, do not grow back their tails if they drop off? With the right kind of TLC we are sure Spike will be back to his usual activities at home. Wishing you a speedy recovery spike!!!

05.01.2022 We are a proud sponsor of the Dogs SA event this year Festival Of Dogs, we will be having a marquee set up and be offering discount microchipping on the day as well as handing out some goodie bags. Come on down and say hello.

04.01.2022 What a great way to end a crazy week, congratulations to owner Sophie and her dog Hunter. These puppies are the result of attention to detail and hard work. When Hunter was confirmed being in pup it also became apparent that Hunter would need some supplementation to help her carry her precious bundle to the finish line. Weekly trips to the vet, sometimes twice, for 5 weeks and this is the final result. Now all the real fun starts.

04.01.2022 Fun fact: Did you know that it is normal for female rabbits to have this little fat pouch under their chin? Its called a dewlap and it is there so that they can easily pluck out their fur to line their nests when preparing for babies.

02.01.2022 What is the best cure for Mondayitis? Having puppy cuddles of course These British Bulldog puppies were delivered this morning at the clinic. How cute are they with their mum.

02.01.2022 Our last puppy pre school graduates for a little while. Thor, Jax, Leroy, Boomer and Bailey dont forget your manners.
