25.01.2022 Weve had a very generous and organised donation of cut up fabrics. If anyone would like to help by sewing these together please PM the page and Ill sort it out for you. Size per bag: 1.5in, 2in, 2.5in, 3.5in, 4in and 4.5in. ... Theres lots of the smaller sizes but not a lot of the larger sizes so more fabric will need to be added. Thanks, Marni

24.01.2022 Hello lovely volunteers :) Would anyone be able to make a twin bed size quilt for the theme room of " Under the Sea" for the Ronald McDonald House in Orange? Sadly, one of the original quilts did not hold up very well when they to commercially clean the entire room :( Please send me a message if you are interested in either making an entire quilt or even just the quilt top!... Big hugs :)

24.01.2022 Hello Everyone Now that the weather is starting to cool off a bit it's time to start thinking about the poor little critters who are rescued everyday by WIRES. Looking to crochet and knit some more of the pouches for their volunteers to use and was wondering if anyone had yarn/wool scraps they want to get rid of? Happy to take it off your hands!!... http://www.wires.org.au//wildlife-fa/making-possum-pouches
24.01.2022 Marni here... Yesterday I sent a lovely parcel of 6 quilts to HQ. I've also done a bit of stocktake of donations that I have on hand here and there's quite a sizeable pile of fabrics just waiting to be stitched into quilt tops. If you think you've got some time and love to spare to whip up a quilt top or two (no need to worry about backing and wadding - that's my department) please send me a message via the page. ... Thanks!
23.01.2022 Having an absolute blast at massive quilting bee today with over thirty volunteers from www.arvolunteers.org Check out how much fun we are having finishing quilts while listening to great music!
23.01.2022 I've heard they will even deliver the supplies to your car for you
19.01.2022 So darn cool helping others like this!
18.01.2022 Let’s start making face masks! They aren’t the safest but definitely better than nothing. Have read that when we have to start taking care of sick family members it is much better protection to stop the spread if the carer and patient both wear masks. Ideally the mask should have two different fabrics so you can always tell which is the outside. It is also advised to never touch the outside of the mask when you take it off or put it on. ... From the research I have done, all cotton or cotton blend including the ties are best. The elastic bands don’t hold up well to repeated washing and sterilisation at extra high heat. I also saw a comment somewhere about possibly making gowns as well? This group below had the best instructions. Also, does anyone have connections to healthcare workers who may need these if we run out? Please share and let us know if you find places to donate them perhaps to local area nursing homes?
16.01.2022 Hello all! Marni here, just popping in to give a bit of an update on the quilts I've been working on and the ones that have been donated. I've recently sorted out 11 more quilts (of assorted sizes) and there was a lovely donation of 3 beautiful baby quilts by a local lady. ... I have a queue of quilts ready to be done but unfortunately I need some more backing fabrics to finish a few of them off. If by some chance you have something that matches my list below and you'd like to donate it please let me know in the comments so we don't double up on things. - 50in square in red, yellow or blue - 60in square in blue or white - 55in square in yellow or red - 85in x 90in in black or any brights - 55in x 65in in black, white or lime - 85in x 65in in white, brights or rainbow Please send directly to me: Marni Franks PO Box 399 Gosford NSW 2250 OR drop off at The Gosford Sewing Machine Centre Thank you!

15.01.2022 Hi everyone! Marni here... I'm just popping in to ask a question as I am working on a pack for volunteers. This will be an emailed PDF to all new volunteers and for those who are just making enquiries about joining in. So far I have -... - contact info - quilt sizes - how to find a Quilt Queen - how to donate other than making quilts - where the quilts go and what we do Is there anything you would like added to the list?
15.01.2022 Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a nice break over the holidays. If anyone is ready to start sewing again and needs fabric please PM the page and I will sort something out for you. I have a stack of donated fabric here that needs the magic touch of a volunteer. ... Thanks, Marni
14.01.2022 Someone mentioned supporting small independent stores when shopping for fabric, instead of Spotlight or Lincraft (I did search for that post, but can't locate it). I picked up some fabric from Frankenstein's Fabrics ... she's local to me, so that was handy, but she also has her entire range of quilting cottons on sale right now. The owner is also super animal-friendly, and so supportive of the work that everyone here is doing to help injured wildlife. I'm happy to recommend her.https://www.frankensteinsfabrics.com/?product_cat=fabric

11.01.2022 Good afternoon everyone and welcome to all the new members. For your information: With so many members and posts we will be turning off comments once a quest...ion has been responded to as newer posts are falling down the newsfeed. This will assist admin in answering queries in a timely manner. We appreciate your understanding. We are not approving thanks for the add posts as they also clog up the newsfeed. The approved ARF patterns can be found in files and please read the most current FAQs in announcements. If anyone is not a crafter and would like to contribute to materials, postage etc please donate here. https://mkc.org.au/donations/arfsncrafts Happy crafting The Admin Team

02.01.2022 Hello 2020! Marni here, popping in with a quick message. As you all know there is a lot happening in our country at the moment. Bushfires are raging all over and there is an army of crafters making pouches, mittens and wraps for injured wildlife. ... Everyone is scrambling for donations and fabrics are flying around through the post and there are so many wonderful people doing drop offs and collections. Its amazing to see people coming together to help. On that note - I am putting this call out for fabric for backing for quilts as I have a queue of tops ready to be quilted but no backing fabrics at all. Cleary and I, along with our small army of volunteers have been piecing tops from donated fabrics but large enough pieces for backing are rare. I know some people do a bit of declutter in the new year so if you have something that you would like to donate you are most welcome to send them directly to me. Marni Franks P.O. Box 399 Gosford NSW 2250 If you are local to Gosford and would like to drop them off in person please send the page a DM and Ill arrange it with you. We are working on quilts as always for sick children, but we are also hoping to make a donation of quilts to those who have lost everything. We are just working out the logistics of that. Please stay safe, hydrated and look out for each other. Marni x
