25.01.2022 Time for change.

22.01.2022 I’ve thought really carefully about whether to share this. Not because there’s any doubt in my mind and my heart regarding the truth of the message , but because I know it will be hard to read for many who have trodden this path as a mother or who are holding this trauma from their childhood. I want to invite you to hold yourself with as much compassion as you can as you read this and please reach out if this brings up some strong emotions....whatever they may be. I know fir...st hand how hard mothering in our current culture is. I’ve met so many mothers who felt they had no choice than to allow their precious babies to Cry it Out. I’ve experienced the utter exhaustion of sleep deprivation, the days when I haven’t had a single moment to myself. I get it. I really do. I do not share this to shame Mothers. I share it so that we can better understand the science behind some of the decisions we make. So that we can make informed choices. I also share this because there is important message behind this for society and for families. It’s very simple. We need to value Mothers MORE. We need MORE support for Mothers, and we need to be providing that within Communities. Yes, the reality is Mothers need to really embrace asking for help because the rest of us aren’t stepping up voluntarily to nurture and nourish new families, BUT we need to be providing more holistic and solid support for new mothers and parents AND fiercely challenging the notion that the current paradigm works. The phrase that I keep coming back to when I think about realm of modern Motherhood is this: ‘It may be normal, but it’s not natural.’ More on that another time but for now, I hope you can read the post I’m sharing with compassion both for yourself and for other Mothers knowing that you and they are doing their best. Let’s push for change so that we can reduce trauma for our future generations and heal our own.

22.01.2022 I’m aware that many of you don’t really know me yet (nor I you, for that matter) and you have little knowledge of me as a person, beyond what I have shared on this page. I hope that will change in the future, as love to connect with people, you know, properly connect, where we talk about more than just the weather and other polite chit chat. I may be an introvert, but I love a good deep conversation. Anyhow, I thought it might help to hear from others who have sat in circle w...ith me. So here’s what Lauren had to say about her experience of being part of an online Mothers Circle I run. This circle brought likeminded women together to share, care and feel supersonically empowered!Thank you Anne for providing such a beautiful space, you have made such a difference to me and my family’s life, I am forever grateful. xox Now, I can’t guarentee supersonic empowerment, but hopefully you get a small sense of what being in circle with me might be like. Also, I can’t post this without acknowledging the women who show up in the circle mentioned above, and say how deeply grateful I am for their willingness to be with their vulnerability and go wherever the moment takes them, each time we gather, in such an honest and open way. It’s women like this who inspire me each day and help me to keep me showing up as myself, or return to myself in each moment. Thank you. If you want to know more about either, or both, of my new circle offerings please reach out by DM or at [email protected] , and we can get to know each other a little more.

21.01.2022 Listening to, and following your instincts can have a significant impact in Birth. Here’s a good example.

18.01.2022 In our healing and growing, we must, inevitably, make peace with our own stories and then tell them to at least one person. The telling is crucial. We must own our own true stories. In doing so, we begin again to belong to the world in the way only we can. The door to soul opens. Bill Plotkin #soulcraft

07.01.2022 Breakfast muffins for a new Mama. The foods we eat postpartum can make a significant difference in supporting recovery from birth and the early, often exhausting, days and months of motherhood. #postpartum food #mealsformamas #nourishingmothers #postpartumsupport #postpartumdoula

07.01.2022 I wanted to share with you details of an amazing Kids Immunity Course kicking off THIS SUNDAY with the fabulous Helen Padarin and Heidi East. Helen is not only a dear friend of mine, who supported me through preconception care and at the Births of both my babies, she is a pretty darn special Naturopath, Nutritionist and Herbalist, who has authored a number of books and is such a wealth of knowledge. Heidi is another amazing Naturopath, Doula and Mama of 3 equally amazing h...umans. I'm so excited to see this dynamic duo in action. Despite learning from these beautiful souls for over a decade I KNOW I'll learn even more from this course. The course contains 7 modules of content with videos and downloadable PDF's of information, tips, tricks, tools, recipes and guidance to help your kids thrive all year long. There's also a private facebook group where you can connect with likeminded parent and engage in Lives with Helen, Heidi and special guests. Having done courses with Helen before, this is where there's real added value. If you are interested you can enrol using the link below and I'll probably see you in the facebook group as we learn together: https://padarinhealth.teachable.com/p/kids-immunity-course/

07.01.2022 Yes to this. Having a good listener you can turn to in these moments, whether it be a friend, family member or therapist, can be so valuable. Never be afraid to reach out.

07.01.2022 I love this quote. I've been running circles for a few months and attending them for myself on and off (due to location changes) for some time now. I find both running and attending them nothing short of magical.

06.01.2022 How might things change if we did more supporting and less ‘fixing’??

05.01.2022 So true. Can you allow yourself to allow the journey of motherhood to slowly unfurl?

01.01.2022 I, for one, couldn’t agree more. In full disclosure, I say that as someone who has not birthed in Australia. I have no personal lived experience of birthing in Australia, but I see it as part of my role to understand the culture in which I work and in doing so can better serve the women I support. Both of my children were born in New Zealand....and intentionally so. Whilst it wasn’t the sole factor in us staying in NZ as long as we did, it was a conscious decision for us to remain in NZ until I had birthed my babies. I am forever grateful to the amazing midwife who supported my family through both pregnancies, births and postpartum periods.

01.01.2022 My reading pile is growing...and my wish list is even bigger. What are you reading at the moment, ad what’s on your wish list? #birthpreparation #birthmentor #postpartumdoula #yogateacher #birthdoulaintraining #hakomiintraining #birthmatters #birthasinitiation #yourbodyyourbirth #birthculture #birthritual #goodbooks #birthbooks
