25.01.2022 Big Turn Out Ensures Careers Expo A Popular Success After initially being delayed due to COVID-19, the re-scheduled 2020 Hedland Careers Careers Expo, held last Friday, was popular amoungst local students and community members alike. Held at North Regional Tafes Pundulmurra campus, over 600 visitors attended this years event. There were over 40 different stallholders in attendance, from education institutions, recruitment agencies, local businesses and industry including: ...North Regional Tafe, EPIC, Apprenticeship Support Australia, BHP, FMG, Roy Hill, AAC, Care For Hedland, Category 5, Chandler Mcleod, Child Australia, Dampier Salt, Freo Group, Headspace, Mineral Resources, Mission Australia, Main Roads, PCLS, Pilbara Meta Maya, Pilbara Ports Authority, Pilbara Universities, WA Police, Programmed, Qube, Goodline, Sodexo, Pilbara Regiment, TOPH, WACHS, Wirraka Maya Aboriginal Health Service, Yaandina Community Services and Yurala Environment Services. The high number of businesses involved, ensured that all that attended, were able to see a wide and diverse array of local employment opportunities available. The Bloodwood Trees Employment & Training team takes great pride in organising the Careers Expo each year. This years event was no exception. It provided a valuable opportunity for students and community members to talk direct to businesses and employers and learning first-hand what employment opportunities are on offer locally, not only now, but also going into the future. From feedback received, all students and community members enjoyed the opportunity. They also enjoyed the opportunity to watch and listen to the interactive activities held during the day. Employers also enjoyed the opportunity to promote locally available work and future opportunities. Given the popularity of adult apprenticeships, adult traineeships, the constant need to re-train, and importantly the societal change away from jobs for life, the recent Careers Expo was again seen as a great way to inform all community members, young and old, of what is available locally and to help all members of our local community with their career journey going forward. A special thank you to Roy Hill for providing the events hand sanitiser and wipes, BHP for supplying the event promotional items, Reach students for providing the fruit cups, FMG for the sausage sizzle and Clontarf students for cooking, Goodline for assisting with event safety and the Daily Grind Coffee van. A BIG thank you to North Regional Tafe for hosting the event. Bloodwood Tree thanks everyone who took part and attended this years event and looks forward to everyone being involved again, for the 2021 Hedland Careers Expo.

The Regional Community Food Service Programme is a Monday-to-Friday, local Port and South Hedland grocery pick-up and drop-off service, as well as a Wednesday fortn...ightly food delivery service to the Yandeyarra community. Thereby providing an affordable, as well as consistent supply of nutritious food staples to meet the immediate needs of local people and families in the Hedland and Yandeyarra communities. All that the Mini Mart offers, is now fully accessible to everyone in Hedland, through its ability to now provide transport and deliveries. Many people dont have cars, many people dont have access to reliable transport, many find access to the shops incredible difficult. Since transport and deliveries in Hedland commenced on the 4th August, this Hedland delivery service has assisted over 56 local families get to the Mini Mart or have their Mini Mart groceries delivered. The fortnightly Mini Mart grocery service to Yandeyarra, commenced 12th August and has already seen 9 Yandeyarra families benefit from the Mini Mart service, all delivered to their front door. All at the same prices, that Hedland Mini Mart customers have access to. Yandeyarra currently does not have a general store and many times families remove their children from school, on school days, so that they can come to town and do shopping.
