22.01.2022 Hi My name is Breanna, I am the Retail Manager at Blooms Port Coogee. I have been at the pharmacy from soon after we opened as Blooms. I am doing further study with The Pharmacy Guild, and I co-ordinate our Sleep Apnoea Clinic. I love seeing the incredible difference that treating Sleep Apnoea can make to our patients’ lives! I live locally and love Port Coogee. Out of work I am a keen supporter of local footy and live music.

17.01.2022 Wizard Pharmacy Kalgoorlie Central was the first Western Australian pharmacy to dispense an E-Script. Pharmacy owner Elise Wheadon has a high level of enthusia...sm for technology, and so it’s no wonder her team were QCPP Pharmacy of the Year Finalists and winners of the Excellence in Professional Innovation category in 2019. A close relationship with the local medical centre saw Elise’s team approached to be a part of the Community of Interest for the E-Script roll-out. Elise reports the trial has been great and a seamless process as far as workflow. Young mums who are mostly tech-savvy have embraced E-Scripts. Anything to make life easier is going to be adopted". Owner of Blooms the Chemist Port Coogee and Blooms the Chemist Joondalup, Andria Aird, has witnessed first-hand the enormous changes community pharmacists have experienced within the last year. Pharmacists have had to adapt our workflow, policies and procedures at break-neck speed to keep up during the COVID-19 pandemic. There has been immense pressure to stay abreast of new legislative requirements and implement them completely whilst being a ‘source of truth’ for our teams and our community. At no other time in my career have I felt the weight of community expectations so acutely. It is a timely reminder of the respect and trust that people have for their community pharmacist. One of these changes is the introduction of e-prescribing. Pharmacists are the ones making E-script supply a reality, with the ever-present goal of improving health outcomes for our patients. It is my hope that the introduction of e-prescribing will make the supply of prescription medicines safer and more efficient for those most in need.

09.01.2022 Breast awareness is important for women of all ages, even if you’re having regular mammograms. You don’t need to be an expert or use a special technique to check your breasts. Take the time to get to know the normal look and feel of your breasts as part of everyday activities like showering, dressing, putting on body lotion or simply looking in the mirror. Knowing what is normal for you will help you to detect any new breast or nipple changes. Breast changes to look out for i...nclude: a new lump or lumpiness, especially if it's only in one breast a change in the size or shape of the breast a change to the nipple, such as crusting, ulcer, redness or inversion a nipple discharge that occurs without squeezing a change in the skin of the breast such as redness or dimpling an unusual pain that doesn't go away. Nine out of ten breast changes aren't due to cancer, but it’s important to see a doctor to be sure. If you find a breast change that is unusual for you, see your GP without delay. 07.01.2022 Cancer screening can help protect your health through early detection, even if you don’t have any symptoms of the disease. Simple screening tests look for particular changes and early signs of cancer before it has developed or before any symptoms emerge. Visit http://www.cancerscreening.gov.au/

05.01.2022 Did you know that 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer? Blooms The Chemist Dianella Pharmacist Jessica Sturcke was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, after finding a lump whilst performing a self-check. Luckily the cancer was found early and after months treatment, she has now been cancer free for 18 months. She wants to make everyone aware that breast cancer can unfortunately happen to anyone, at any age, so performing monthly self checks is very important for early detection and diagnosis.
