24.01.2022 A few weeks ago, we welcomed four new members into our familychickens! One of the many bizarre, yet wonderful behaviours chickens display is that they announce when they lay an egg and this has become known as the eggs song in our household. After some googling, I discovered that one of the reasons chickens broadcasts to the world that they have laid an egg is letting others know about her accomplishment. Sometimes, we don’t #celebratesuccess as often as we should. The impor...tance of celebrating success is often overlooked, yet a powerful motivator. As we wind down towards the end of what has been an incredibly challenging year, it’s important to take a moment for reflection and celebrate the successes we had. Research has shown that dopamine is released into our brain when we anticipate achieving something or we achieve it and it feels good, so we want more of it. Focus on what you’ve accomplished, rather than a long overwhelming list of what you’ve still got to do. Celebrate every success, no matter how small the win, to cultivate your success mindset. One organisation I worked for rang a huge bell whenever there was a significant deal. Everyone in the building knew about and celebrated with the team. How do you and your team #celebrateyourwins? #success #mindset

24.01.2022 Yesterday I was honoured to welcome our 2021 Graduate Cohort to the Thiess Indonesian business and provide the closing remarks at the Induction. One of the key lessons I shared with our graduates is to become a #lifelonglearner, both professionally and personally. #Learning is a key skill to thrive in a post pandemic world, coupled with #learningagility which Korn Ferry describes as the magic that happens when our recognition of the importance of learning is teamed with th...e curiosity and adaptability to actually pursue learning and re-learning as part of our professional and personal practice. And to then deploy that learning in new ways. Korn Ferry describes the five characteristics of #learningagility: Mental agility - comfortable in dealing with complexity People agility - skilled communicators who can work with a diverse range of people Change agility - likes to experiment and unafraid of being at the forefront of change Results agility - can deliver results in first-time situations Self-awareness - recognises own strengths and development areas #Learningagility can be an innate characteristic, but can also be a learned skill that can be develop through: Being curious Taking risks Reflecting #lifelonglearning #learningagility #curiousity https://focus.kornferry.com//learning-agility-3-steps-to-/

08.01.2022 I wouldn’t consider myself a #millennial, rather at the tail end of Gen X. However, after reading this article and entering this universe in late 1979, I think I maybe a Geriatric Millennial. Yes it’s a generation group or a micro group and like Erica Dhawan, the author of Digital Body Language, when I first heard the term geriatric millennial I thought it was an oxymoron but after reading the article I realized how perfectly it describes so many of us. #geriatricmillenni...als are born in the early 1980s (1980-1985) who are comfortable with both analog and digital forms of communication. We were the first generation to grow up with technology like a PC, dial up modem and mobile phones in our homes. We were also early digital adopters, first to have Facebook, AOL messenger etc. So why is this important? The future and success of #hybridwork will need the skills of digital adapters (not digital natives) to: Bridge the gap of tech-dependent informal styles with traditional body language Coach traditional communication skills to younger employees Work with older generations on their team to help them become better acquainted with digital communication norms. #geriatricmillennials #hybridwork #technology #digital https://index.medium.com/why-the-hybrid-workforce-of-the-fu

04.01.2022 April 15-21 is World Creativity & Innovation Week, dedicated to celebrating all forms of #creativity. #Creativity maybe considered as a "softer" element and not always seen as bedrocks of business as some of the harder or critical elements and skills. However, an organisation’s evolution and growth will need some creative spark or an innovative approach. Centre for Creative Leadership describes creativity as a mindset, a skill set, and a tool set. It’s a framework for app...roaching problems. It involves brainstorming a lot of ideas, seeking novelty, deferring judgment, and building off the ideas of others. How a leader responds when someone presents them with an idea can either spur innovation or stifle it. Studies show that up to 67% of the climate for creativity in organizations is directly attributed to the leader’s behaviour. How can you become a leader who enables creativity and innovation? Become more curios Tolerate ambiguity Practice affirmative judgment Show persistence Find out more in the Centre for Creative Leadership’s article on How to Foster an Innovative Mindset at Your Organization. #wicweek2021 #creativity #innovation #creativeleadership #creativemindset

04.01.2022 Most of us want to forget 2020 but without adversity there’s no lessons to be learnt and opportunities to overcome and grow. I’ve had a great 2020 even though I’ve experienced lock downs, distance from my family and health issues. I hope you can reflect on 2020 with a resilient mindset and raise your sail for 2021. Wishing you a happy and healthy new year! #2020 #newyear #newbeginnings #resilience #resilientmindset
