25.01.2022 The first few drops of rain on the roof, the start of what is forecast to be a few wet days. Just what our gardens and tanks need, a good mid winter top up. So if you don’t have your own home grown soup veg, come to the market and see what our farmers and backyarders can help you with to fill your pots and warm your bellies. We must be more vigilant now more than ever adhering to social distancing and good hygiene practices. That means, please use the hand sanitiser provided,... keep a distance 1.5 meters between you and the next customer at all the stalls and NO HUGGING, no none. Very un-Blue Knob, but essential to keep us all safe and well. You will notice some action in the gallery, Christine and her volunteers are preparing to open the gallery for us all to enjoy next month, which is next week. The fibre show is the first exhibition and will be stunning as always I am sure. Paul and his crew have been working endlessly in the cafe to feed us all and will again be open this Saturday from 8.30am to 2.30 last orders. See you all this Saturday.

So come and say hello and remind yourselves of the great vibe at Blue Knob and if you haven't visited before, make it your New Year's resolution to pay us a weekly visit. The Artist's Choice exhibition is on, the café will tempt your tastebuds and the market has lots of surprises. See more
23.01.2022 Another great talk last week by Andrew. Thanks for your words of wisdom and sharing your knowledge. The attendee's said that Andrew knows lots of stuff. Great to hear. It was a great show and tell event with Andrew talking about his great uses for our native plants and also special species specific to just this region. We had Nimbin chocolate with a stall there, she will be sharing her yummy chocolate at the beginning of each moth. I highly recommend the salted caramel. We look forward to catching up with you this weekend. Our next events are Greg's talk on the 3rd of April, followed by the Trash n Treasure market the following week on the 10th April. We still have some spots available for stalls if you have some treasures to sell.
23.01.2022 We are having another Trash & Treasure on Saturday November 21st, along side the usual market stalls. So sort out those cupboards, the garage and the shed. Clean it up, make sure it's in good order and bring it along to sell. Contact Louise at the number on the flyer to book your stall.

22.01.2022 Only 3 more markets before Christmas and we will be having lots of gift ideas on offer. This week sees the return of Bec Massey and her business Thready Set Go. She describes it as a sewing business creating a small range of funky reusable products, a little contribution to less waste in the world. Bec joined us at the same time last year, with all those cooling neck bands which were so popular in the hot weather. She will only be here for the 1 week, so come and see what els...e she's been creating. Over the coming weeks we will have ceramics, crafted timber pieces, Christmas cakes and lots more besides. All the usual produce will be available. There's a new exhibition on in the gallery entitled 'The Artist' Choice', with more possibilities for gifts abounding. Cool drinks and food in the café and all in the shady surrounds of the Blue Knob Gallery. See more
21.01.2022 There will be a full house of stall holders this week with the feeling of spring in the air. It is so wonderful to see our community market growing again. Janiki will bring plants and citrus, ... Louise has teas and herb plants, Tomo with freshly picked veggies from her market garden, Andrew with his rainforest plants, Neil with his beautiful timber bowls, Chris ‘apples’ self explanatory, Greg with seedlings and soil improvers, Peter with bread, big biscuits, spreads and fabric masks, Mushrooms are back on the Backyarders table and Anamaya is again baking and will bring her fabulous florentine’s and savoury muffins. Melanie of Canna puss organics will again join Greg with her range of bio char soaps, rubs and sprays. Just to mention a few. I am sure there will be much more on offer. The gallery doors are open again and the cafe is offering sit down dinning with limited seats. You can always grab a takeaway as well. Please use the hand sanitiser on the station provided at the entry of the market and comply with the 1.5 meter distancing regulation, to keep all safe and well.
20.01.2022 What a joy it was last week to have the Sphinx Rock Stringband playing again for us. There music really gets us all toe tapping and adds so much to the great vibe of the market. Thanks so much guys for being there. This week you will find all sorts of great Christmas treats at the market alongside the produce. Ceramic gifts made in the Blue Knob studio by the talented potters. What about a signed copy of Neil's Walers & Warriors book or a piece or two of his beautifully turne...d timber. Herbal teas, soaps, cherries and apricots and much more are on offer. BackYarders will have White and Dark Chocolate Biscotti, White Christmas, Christmas cakes, with or without the traditional marzipan and icing. Only 1 more market next week, before our three week break. So brave the welcome - if very abundant - rain and come and see what you can buy locally to add to your Christmas stockings. See more
20.01.2022 Hope you all had a good week and are drying out a little after all the great rain. News for this week is that Peter is reluctantly taking a break from making bread for a while, as he concentrates on finishing building his house. But you will find a growing range of seedlings, yummy crisp apples, rainforest plants, shower soaps, fruit, veg, preserves, eggs, coffee beans, herbs and for all you Florentine lovers - head to the BackYarders! And prepare yourselves for the following week - there will be a chocolate stall, seated massage, oyster mushrooms, ceramics, another wonderful talk and live music added to all our usual offerings. Come on down - or up - as the case may be and join us at this fantastic community complex. Market open 8.30-12pm on Saturday. See you there.
20.01.2022 First Saturday of the month this week, so you can look forward to live music, ceramics and the first of our monthly talks, to add to the great vibe of market, gallery and café. Come and hear about seed saving with Steph at 10am; Sphinx Rock String Band will be getting us all toe tapping with their great music and the Ceramics Studio will be showcasing the potters creations for sale. 19.01.2022 Have you seen the fabulous new paving just outside the gallery door? It look very spiffy. Great craftsmanship by Craig, Neil and Paz and a real asset to the gallery and market. Heartfelt thanks to Neil's daughter and Bill McHenry for providing the materials. We now have a good looking stable surface to put two more market tables under cover. If you're after anything herbal come and see Louise this week. The gluten free bread on Peter's stall is proving very popular, as are th...e other breads made by his own fair hand. Stone fruit is coming into full production, as the apples slip away for another season. Chris will have Peaches and Nectarines possibly from Tassie this week. Ready for another generation of veggies? Greg has those and more for your garden. Andy has tubs of mixed blueberries and native raspberries as well as rainforest plants. Neil will be trying out the new paving with his stall, showcasing his talents as a timber crafter and I hear that those delicious dark chocolate coated Florentines will be on the BackYarders this week, along with savoury muffins and who know what other goodies. All the usual community grown produce is expected. So come and experience all that is on offer at the market, in the gallery, the café and you can even have a peek at the potters at work in the studio. See you there rain or shine 8.30am-12noon. 18.01.2022 Hi Guys n Gals, Here is our refined timetable for this year. Next week Steph will be discussing the value of seed saving and what benefits that brings to us as a community. 18.01.2022 How have you fared through the last few very wet days? Perhaps more of a 'normal' sub-tropical Summer?! Hopefully Saturday will prove to be a perfect day for wondering around the market and gallery and then maybe enjoying a cuppa and a bite to eat in the café. THIS IS THE LAST MARKET OF THE YEAR. The gallery, café, studio and market are taking a break for 3 weeks after Christmas. So make sure you come and enjoy a last hurrah for the year with us all. Louise will be back with ...all things herbal. Her dandelion chai is fantastic. Come and try Peter's cornflake biscuits, Anzacs and bread. See Andy for those last minute rainforest plants, to fill that space in the backyard. Chris can supply all your Christmas stone fruit and Greg will have the last of his seedlings until next February. So get in quick, there aren't many left. Neil still has some of his beautiful turned wood bowls and copies of his book available. BackYarders have all the usual produce and more of all the Christmas treats they had last week, plus some favourites - and a couple of Christmas cakes left. You'll find more gifts amongst the ceramics, on show through out the market. So come and browse and stay for a while. Wishing everyone a magical time over Christmas and into the new New Year. Thanks for you support through this challenging year. See more
17.01.2022 Spring is here, what wonderful days we have had this week with cooler nights. Greg will have summer crop seedlings for those newly prepared veggie beds. Now is the time to plant some rainforest trees to get them established before the heat of summer arrives. Andrew always has an interesting selection to choose from. They come with his expansive knowledge of origin, growing condition and care.... Chris will have nice crisp apples as always. Peter will have freshly baked bread and big biscuits. There will also be some beautiful flowers from the platypus Point flower farm. Our stallholders will have garden produce from their spring crops, lushes greens for salads and steaming, berries to eat while you wander, duck eggs and more. The backyarders are expecting a bountiful table from the keen gardens in our community. They will also have eggs, coffee, baked goodies and some plants. The ceramic studio is having a break between sessions so there will be no ceramic stall this Saturday. So come and join us this Saturday. The sanitation station will again be at the entry for everyone to use.
16.01.2022 Farmers’ markets have been declared an essential service by the Federal Government as they are an integral link in the nation’s food chain. Slow Food Melbourne ...has been doing everything possible to maximise public health safety at our markets. Please read the pinned post on Facebook for our full Covid-19 Policy & Operating Procedures. Shopping alone in the fresh air, at a safe distance, with your own baskets while adhering to our policy and procedures helps create a safe market experience for everyone. In addition, the State Government has announced that people will be required to wear masks when going outside. No mask means no entry to the markets. We’d like to thank everyone for making our June market a safe one. Unfortunately we were disappointed to see people with pets or shopping with friends and family. Given the latest Covid-19 restrictions, we will be taking extra steps to enforce our policy. Please do not turn up to the markets unwell, without a mask/face covering, with pets or with other people, as we will have no choice but to turn you away. For the sake of our farmers, producers, market organisers and neighbours, we ask everyone to respect our policy. Let’s work together to help provide a safe space to our farmers during this difficult time. Regards, Slow Food Melbourne.
15.01.2022 It's the first Saturday of the month - so the ceramics studio stall will be showcasing lots of interesting pieces from our very talented potters. Only one more to go until the end of the year, so start buying your Christmas gifts now from them, or choose from Neil's exquisite woodwork. The second of the talks will be by our own Andrew Readford, who you all know well from his regular plant stall at the market. He will be imparting more of his extensive knowledge on 'Useful Native Plants'. It starts at 10am. Can't wait to try the hand made chocolates, on the new stall that will be joining us. No band this week, they came a week early due to other commitments. The ceramics stall will once again be offering the potter's creations, alongside the wood crafts. Apples, seedlings, and all sorts of goodies on offer. Come and stay a while, enjoy a cuppa and a bite to eat. The café are making some scrumptious delights. See you then 8.30am-12pm.
13.01.2022 How welcome is this beautiful rain to grow our gardens and keep our forests moist? Could be still a bit damp on Saturday for the market, so dust off your raincoat and brolley and have them at the ready. It was so good to have Andy Walker singing for us last week. Thanks Andy for taking a break away from your building to serenade us. So much Spring abundance now appearing at the market. Those enormous vegetables should be back this week on Sharon and Graham's stall. Chris says... the Tassie Pink Lady apples are coming to and end. So come and get your final fill for the season. Greg has all the Spring seedlings you would want for your veggie patch. Come early for Peter's bread and Anzac biscuits before they sell out. Tomo will have her home grown and hand made offerings. Andy may still have avocados and yellow passion fruit, along with his rainforest plants and liquid soap. It's always a delight to see the beautiful timber pieces that Neil has lovingly made. They make great gifts. BackYarders will, as always, be full of surprises, apart from their staples of oyster mushrooms, local coffee beans, preserves, veg, baked goods and hopefully honey in the next week or two. Don't forget to book a table for the inaugural Friday night dinner next week. The café and chef Ian, are offering you an Indian extravaganza to tantalise your tastebuds. Numbers are limited. Hope to see you at the market this Saturday between 8.30am and 12 noon. See more
12.01.2022 Another beautiful Winter's day is expected for our market on Saturday. It's the first of the month, so the ceramics stall will join our regular wood crafts. The cold weather is not being kind to Greg and Ness's seedlings unfortunately. They will be at the market but probably with little if any seedlings. They will bring plenty of bags of soil, their BD fertiliser and lots of interesting conversation though. Janiki will have plants, herbs and produce. More crisp apples and pea...rs from Chris. Tomo is busy with the abundance from her lovely garden. Peter's regulars will be queuing up for his bread and hopefully Anzac bikkies. Those delicious tiny tomatoes will be on Kaelana's stall again this week, with her other interesting and eclectic offerings. BackYarders are always happy to receive any extra produce from your garden to sell for you, along with their usual delights. Don't forget the café is now open from Thursday to Sunday. It's a big part of the great vibe on Saturday mornings. So come along and see what is on offer. See more
11.01.2022 Looks like a hotter day coming up tomorrow, so come and spend some time in our shady undercover market, cafe and gallery. This week we have Louise with all her herbs in their various incarnations of plants, teas and lotions and potions. Tomo is away but Peter is probably baking all that amazing bread as we speak. Try out the increasing popular gluten free seed bread. If you have a question about regen, ask Andy. He can visit your place and advise you. He also has the plants t...o fill that gap. Seedlings galore at Greg's stall and the stone fruit that Chris is selling is getting more luscious by the week. Come and see Neil's latest timber creations. They are quite lovely. Who knows what surprises you may find on the BackYarders tables. Always some yumminess, fresh veg, eggs, coffee - beans or ground, honey and lots more. All grown and produced in the local area. We look forward to seeing you there between 8.30-12pm. Oh and don't forget next week is the Trash & Treasure, alongside the usual market. See more

Richard and Anamaya will be at the backyarders waiting to assist all you backyarder gardeners who have excess produce to sell. Greg will NOT be at the market this weekend. His seedlings are not responding well to this colder weather. Paul and Julie will be ready to serve you breakfast and a hot drink in the cafe. Limited seats are now available on the veranda and in the gallery. So come and support your local farmers who have brave the cold to share with you their fresh produce and warm hearts
08.01.2022 Stallholders had fun last week beautifying and doing some long awaited projects around the market space. You will be pleased to see that it is now safe to stand by the noticeboard, as it's now upright; fewer cobwebs adorn the walls; the first stage of the soon to be paved area near the gallery door is complete and, not on show, but we now have one very organised shed at the back! This week Chris will have new season stone fruit. The peaches and nectarines were small but deli...cious last week. Andy has honey, berries and rainforest plants. Greg has lots of seasonal veggie seedlings. See Peter for bread and other baked goodies. He's also had a gluten free seed bread as well lately, which has proved popular, as well as preserves and chutneys. All the usual locally grown produce on the Backyarders - locally grown coffee - both beans and ground, eggs, colourful oyster mushrooms, tasty treats, veg, plants, honey and other goodies. Kaelana has been bringing those joyful, sunny sunflowers for sale and no doubt we will hear those delightfully gentle sounds from her drum. 07.01.2022 Welcome to our Winter Solstice market. Here we are half way through the year already and what a year it has been so far. So what do we have to bring a little nurturance and joy into your lives this week? All those crisp and delicious Tassie apples and pears are back on Chris's table, along with Amandas range of essential oils and herbal ointments. She has added a couple of new items to the Black Sheep Farm range: Thieves Oil Hand Sanitiser and Hemp & Nettle Ointment for skin ...rashes. Both in 2 sizes. Our 'woodies' Kevin and Neal will have their respective stalls and wood crafts. Lots of seedlings and garden nurturance in those amazing Saké bottles, from Greg and Ness. Tomo will have soap, beeswax wraps, and other home made items as well as garden produce. Peter and Cathryn are taking a week off. However a smaller amount of Peter's multigrain will be available on the BackYarders for all you devotees. The bees are also taking a break, so no honey for a while - unless anyone out there has an abundance to spare and share. But plenty of coffee beans, preserves, turmeric tonic, eggs, oyster mushrooms and vegetables, all locally grown. Baked goods this week are Eccles cakes, Florentines, Three Cheese Muffins and Chai Snickerdoodles. The café is open, so come and join in our small but vibrant community market. See more
06.01.2022 What a lovely community hub, Blue Knob is on a Saturday morning. It's vibrant, fun and friendly. Plants, fresh local produce, crafts, seedlings and treats. No fresh mushrooms again this week, or baked goods on the BackYarders - Anamaya's oven is having a hissy fit. But hopefully Greg's seedlings have taken advantage of the lengthening sunny days and are ready for sale. The café is once more buzzing - socially distanced of course. Another gorgeous day expected in paradise, so come, visit and see what's on offer.
06.01.2022 Folded arms and hands in pockets sums up last weeks chilly market. Kaelana bought warmth to our ears with the wonderful sound of the hang. Although ‘just learning’ the musical tones resonated among us all. Chris joined with the humming sounds and vibrations of his crystal healing bowl. Truly amazing, what the world needs so much more of right now.... The weather is forecast to be fine this Saturday, so come along and get your fresh fruit and veggie, fresh herbs, custom made teas, bread, apples and pears, rainforest trees, honey, eggs, coffee and preserves to name just a few, from our stall holders and backyarders table. Kevin and Neal have been busy creating hearts and bowls out of timber. Seems to be some collaboration going on. Their combine knowledge of timber species is endless. There will be NO mushrooms for 2 weeks. Ananda is taking a well earned break. The cafe is open from 8.30 with limited seating on the deck and in the gallery, with a limited menu.
05.01.2022 Another beautiful sunny week and another wonderful market to look forward to. How good was it last week? We had stalls on the lawn and stalls in the car park. It's great to see it growing again. And what about those ginormous vegetables from our newest stall holders Sharon and Graham? It must be the combination of organics, BD, love - and pig pooh. Come and see what they have for us this week. Andy may have more avocados, passion fruit, raspberries, rainforest plants and his... lovely chemical free shower soap. Melanie and Dolf from ACU have had a stall for the last few weeks, showcasing those great hanging drying nets, along with their oils, bath salts and the popular Biochar soap. Lots of wonderful home grown veggies are appearing on the BackYarders now plus all your favourites will be there as usual. Come and enjoy wondering around, drinking a cup or two and seeing what's on offer in the gallery, café and of course the market. We'd love to see you there. See more

We thank you for observing them and keeping us open for you to enjoy. See more

Anamaya has been baking again and this week will have her florentine’s on the backyarders table along with some beautiful native flowers from her garden. The regulars will be present with fresh produce, bread, biscuits, veggie seedlings, rainforest plants, skin moisture, freshly picked apples, hand made soap and much more. See you all in the morning.
