24.01.2022 Today is NATIONAL MEALS ON WHEELS DAY This year National Meals on Wheels Day will recognise our dedicated volunteer workforce who have stepped up to help protect the health and wellbeing of vulnerable Australians during the COVID-19 pandemic. Meals on Wheels Australia President, Sharyn Broer says the iconic organisation is incredibly grateful for the unwavering commitment and generosity of the 76,000 people who volunteer for Meals on Wheels, ensuring older Australians remain ...nourished and safe at home, not only during a pandemic, but every day. Meals on Wheels Australia has also been calling for an urgent increase in Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) funding, to ensure the ongoing viability of services. At Blue Mountains Food Services, we are celebrating National Meals on Wheels Day by providing all our Meals on Wheels clients this week, a free chocolate brownie, ably prepared by our NDIS participants and chef at Ben Roberts Cafe Lawson. Our volunteers dont miss out either with a special treat from Ben Roberts Cafe as well. https://mealsonwheels.org.au/national-meals-on-wheels-day/ https://youtu.be/Ypt1fInuTow

11.01.2022 What is National Reconciliation Week? National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.... Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. There are two local events on that you might like to engage with.
