25.01.2022 This photo was taken in 2018, when we went back to my country of birth for a family wedding. It was a holiday that got me thinking and reevaluating what I wanted for my life and my family. It gave me the push to to start putting the steps in place to start Blu Monkey. Running your own business is hard and busy, but it gives me the flexibility to work from home and be there for my children more than when I worked in a corporate environment. Whilst it has not really taken off y...et, I am pushing forward and putting everything into it, in the hopes that it does. Tag a hardworking mum you know, whether she is working away from home, running her own business or working full time looking after her family. 22.01.2022 I am really fortunate to be getting the opportunity to do something I love to do and to be my own boss. Of course my son also says I am the top boss in the house. He knows how to wrap me around his little finger :) As women we have so many different aspects of our life where we are the boss, home, work, business or at the gym. This is a high 5 to all the great women bosses out there. Remember how amazing you are. Tag an awesome women boss that you know.

21.01.2022 Exciting new product range is now available on my website. Insulated water bottles, there will be more to follow over the upcoming weeks. These are made by Oasis and great for keeping your water cold for up to 12hrs. Tell me what design you would love to see on a water bottle.

20.01.2022 Spring is definitely in full swing, Even though we have alot of rain here in Melbourne, it certainly feels warmer and the days are longer. I am not normally a floral person but I saw these new releases from Oasis and had to add them into the store. I am not sure what they will look like etched going to do a sample this weekend, but even as they are, I think they are beautiful. While I was writing the sentence above, I thought that is a really good learning, while we often try... to cover up with makeup or put on a mask to hide our real us, when we are actually beautiful just the way we are. 17.01.2022 Apparently studies have shown that too many choices are not that helpful. I love choice but sometimes I feel like I get stuck in a loop of analysis paralysis trying to make decisions with all the choice :) I came across this quote on As Kate would have it. What do you think?

17.01.2022 Confucious hit the nail on the head when he said Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. I have always been wowed by the creativity of people and when it is their passion how easy they make it look. The world is full of people with amazing talents and I am in awe, even a little jealous :) I am unfortunately not great at drawing, music, photography or knitting, but I do love to create which is one of the reasons I chose to start a business ...like Blu Monkey. It allows me to have a creative outlet and make awesome things, which make people feel special. I may not be good at alot of the creative stuff but I still like to try and I am always adding new hobbies to my list :) Tell me what hobby you want to try next.

16.01.2022 Some days I honestly feel like my children are going to drive me mad and I can't wait until it is their bedtime. It is generally when I am having a crappy day and really has nothing to with them. What is amazing about kids, is their ability for love and forgiveness, even if I have been cranky, they are always willing to give me the biggest hugs and cuddles. Somehow it makes it all better. I am fortunate my kids love hugs as much as I do :)... Tell me about some of your favourite mum moments.

15.01.2022 How do you make a tissue dance? Put a little boogie in it. Dad jokes, we all pretend to hate them but secretly love them. The year has sped by and we only have 3 weekends left until Father's Day on the 6th September. Have a look at our website we have some great gifts for dads. 13.01.2022 I love this quote by Gordon B. Hinckley. It is such a good reminder that we are all capable of achieving great things. "Believe in yourself. Believe in your capacity to do good and great things. Believe that no mountain is so high you cannot climb it. Believe that no storm is so great that you cannot weather it. Believe in yourself."

12.01.2022 With the latest announcements today, many people in Victoria (particuarly Melbourne), are feeling scared, anxious, angry and sad. A whole range of emotions. I must say as someone who has taken alot of the restrictions in my stride, since yesterday I have felt all these. I can't even quite pinpoint why. As a family we have pretty much been doing a stage 4 anyway. I can only think it is because of the unknown. There does not seem to be an end in sight and will we actually ever... return to normal. I feel like our children have lost a bit of their innocence as they grapple with not seeing their friends, not being able to play freely and home learning. Sadness for friends who are worried due to job losses or who have family who are essential workers. Sad that right now there is no indication of when my children will see their grandparents again as they live in another Country. Angry at the selfishness of people who continue to flout the rules or panic buy. So with all of this going on, we need to remember everyone’s journey through this is different. As they say we may be in the same storm but we are not in the same boat. So give yourself a break and allow yourself to be sad. Reach out to others, have a vent it is good for the soul :) Above all be kind to yourself and others.

11.01.2022 One of the advantages of home learning is we get to see some of the school gems our children deliver both good and bad. Yesterday was a good one that made my heart sing. Our eldest had to do a simile poem and this is what he wrote about his dad. He is like a sword, which will always protect me. He is as strong as a rhino... He is like a lion because he is so brave He is as loving as a dog He is like an elephant because he is so loyal He is as protective as a shield He is my dad Tell me how your day is going.

07.01.2022 Just did my first video for IG reels, I still have a long way to go but it is a start :) Love love love my first coffee in the morning, especially one that stays hot. Great coffee at home made easy with the Nespresso Creatista Plus and of course one of my Oasis insulated coffee mugs with a favourite quote.

03.01.2022 So every keeps saying I need to put a face to the business, I have not yet got to the stage of doing a video with me in it. But I thought I would share the story behind Blu Monkey. As most of you know I am Sue and I own Blu Monkey a small family business based in Melbourne, Victoria. Blu Monkey started due to me wanting to express my creativity, my passion for quotes and love for wanting people to feel special.... As a mama I know how busy life gets, how hard it is to take time for yourself or have something that is your own. So having my own insulated mug (or a few of them) that represent me and stop my coffee going cold is awesome! 03.01.2022 I woke up very flat this morning. The covid cases in Victoria are sky rocketing, people are panic buying, it feels as if there is no end in sight, we will potentially get stricter restrictions and it is scary. It took a bit to remind myself that even though I feel restrained and miss seeing my friends, there is so much I have to be grateful for and we are blessed. Our family is all together, I get to hug my children and husband every day. We still get to enjoy the sunshine. So that is exactly what we did. Donned our masks, grabbed the soccer ball and went down to the park for a family game of soccer. There were arguments, a little bit of cheating here and there, lots of laughter and at the end we all felt better out there in the sunshine, having fun together.

02.01.2022 Prior to moving to Melbourne, we lived in Wellington NZ for 8yrs, it is such a fantastic city. What I love about Melbourne is that it has as similar vibe. I always say Melbourne is Wellington on steroids. Wellington is where I learnt to drink coffee. I only occasionally used to dabble in having a cappucino with cream (not something I have seen since leaving South Africa), Wellington is where it became a daily staple. They say in Wellington coffee is currency, and it is normal... to conduct meetings and catchups at the local cafe. I started with hot chocolates progressed to a mocha and I am now a latte lover. One thing I still can't do is drink cold coffee. Insulated mugs are awesome and have really changed my life! What is your hot beverage of choice?

01.01.2022 A couple of days ago I posted about lockdown and what I missed. Today I decided to focus on the positives. I have so much to be grateful for. Even though lockdown is hard we have gained so much by being able to spend quality time together instead of rushing from one activity to the next.... What are you grateful for?
