24.01.2022 2 years on Looking back to 2nd October 2018 we had a bare lot out the front of 101 Lake Terrace East residential home. Two years on, and this space has been transformed into a fantastic Community Wellbeing Centre. Hydrotherapy Health Fitness for the entire community to enjoy. ... Meals will be delivered to outside the door, with volunteers wearing masks, and using hand sanitiser in between each delivery. 22.01.2022 Gifts from St Martins students Residents at Boandik Crouch Street received letters and these sweet flowers made by children in Grade 3 at St Martins College. Before the Covid-19 restrictions ‘Boandik Buddies’ from St Martins visited residents at Crouch Street to spend time together and benefit from intergenerational relationships. Despite Covid-19 restrictions the children and residents continue to communicate through craft and letters. 22.01.2022 Donation purchases bed for Boandik A donation of $6,000 has been received for the purchase of an electric bed and pressure relief air mattress. The Port Mac Donnell Lions Club has been providing a financial donation to Boandik on an annual basis for over 20 years. ... The donations have always been used to purchase equipment that will benefit the residents. We are extremely appreciative of their continued support over such a long period of time.

17.01.2022 Ascot Club Teddy Bears Picnic Each year the Ascot Club have a teddy bears picnic. This years was a little different due to Covid-19 limitation. Members of the Tuesday group were greeted with ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ music as they entered Maria’s on the 15th September. Everyone bought in a favourite teddy to gather together. Some were birthday gifts, others lifelong friends of special significance.... A fun afternoon enjoyed by all.

The residents and clients are actively involved in decision-making to optimise their quality of life and preferred lifestyle. Skilled staff facilitate meaningful engagement for people living with dementia in a variety of settings and can provide valuable support for their family members too. 12.01.2022 Remembrance Day service at Crouch St Lifestyle co-ordinator Gillian held the annual Remembrance Day service at Boandik Crouch Street for residents, to commemorate the day of reflection and to give thanks to those who gave their lives in war. 11.01.2022 Charlie Miller presented with WWII Commemorative medallion ... 96yo Boandik resident Charlie Miller has received a Commemorative medallion acknowledging the significance of the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, presented by Tony Pasin on 10th September. "This medallion and certificate are symbolic of a small but meaningful way to thank living veterans of the largest global conflict of the 20th century" - the Australian Government - Department of Veterans' ...Affairs. Charlie Miller served in the Royal Australian Airforce during World War II, flying spitfires. He has also received an Order of Australia for his lasting commitment to Mount Gambier. Charlie helped rebuild and develop Mount Gambier's business and economy after the depression. Six World War II veterans in Mount Gambier received the commemorative medallion and certificate, with three being Boandik residents. Mary Duggan and Marg Bruhn are the other two Boandik residents receiving this commemorative medallion. We congratulate them all. (Sadly Charlie Miller passed away on 23rd September. RIP)

We had a great response from the community, and were very impressed with the high calibre of artwork entries submitted.... The winners were: Open/Adult category 1st Julie Tullett, 2nd Nicole McLaren. The engaging sensory garden enclosure within a residential complex drew much of its inspiration from the nearby iconic Umpherston Sinkhole sunken garden and utilises local plant life, helping to promote a sense of familiarity for those living with dementia. 04.01.2022 Show time comes to St Marys Boandik residents have always enjoyed annual bus trip outings to visit local Country shows in our area to take in the displays, watch the sites and activities and enjoy some show food treats. So when Covid cancelled the running of the Shows, everyone felt the disappointment. Boandik St Marys lifestyle co-ordinator Cindy decided residents shouldn’t miss out, so bought some carnival fun to the residents.... Along with mini dippy dogs and fairy floss, showbags, cupie dolls, prizes and sideshow games were improvised to give the residents a great amount of activity and enjoyment. 04.01.2022 Hydrotherapy Pool & Gymnasium CLOSED ... As of midnight tonight new covid restrictions come into action. Unfortunately this sees us having to close the hydrotherapy pool and gymnasium. ... We are sorry for the inconvenience, but I'm sure you will understand this is out of our control. Let's all do the right thing to get on top of this virus so we can return to normality sooner rather than later. 03.01.2022 Tenison College school children visit St Marys Residents at Boandik St Marys enjoyed outdoor time (at a distance) with Tenison Woods College 4-5 year old students on 23rd September. The bubbly group arrived on bus to perform two songs with movement to entertain the residents, and gave them rainbow cupcakes. The College students and residents have been exchanging art and writing bio’s about themselves and their lives to share with one another over this last term, which both ...students and residents have enjoyed.
