21.01.2022 It's breeding season for Plovers. Plovers/Masked Lapwings are commonly seen in large grassy areas, but can also nest in some dangerous and precarious locations ...such as on median strips in the middle of busy roads or in car parks! If you have a plover in your area, please read the graphics below for some tips on what you can do. Plovers are very protective of their nests and chicks. Adults will swoop and use loud noises or act as though they have a broken wing in an attempt to lure the intruder away from the nest. This behaviour is mostly bluff and actual contact attacks are rare. Learn more https://www.wires.org.au/wildlif/wildlife-education/plovers

20.01.2022 A guest enjoying our garden

18.01.2022 Always was, always will be Aboriginal land. Let’s extend our respect, love, gratitude, remorse and hope to our nation’s first people today and every day. Let’s... listen and learn about what reconciliation looks like to the traditional custodians of this land, and let’s do our best to practise it. 17.01.2022 Ana's been getting creative with corn... super sweet!

17.01.2022 Austromyrtus dulcis Midyim Berry has started flowering in our garden. The Midyim Berry is said to be one the sweetest of the Bush Tucker plants. It’s endemic to the coast of northern NSW to southern QLD but seems to be doing ok on our block and spreading nicely. These lovely sprays of small white flowers are followed by soft white sweet berries with blue-black speckles in late summer. They attract birds, butterflies and bees... so we might be lucky to try some!

12.01.2022 Parsley Bay Silver Dawn, Brooklyn, NSW This was last week. The timing of dawn is starting to get really quite kind so I took advantage of a good cloud forecast.... Whilst driving there was zero colour, and I was almost tempted to turn back, even as I approached Parsley Bay. However, pinks and silvers greeted me as I arrived, and I was able to get a couple of nice shots before the colour faded. No sunrise today, either! A very high tide meant little beach, but it still makes a great foreground. Enjoy! 06.01.2022 Amazing photo and comment by Manu at Lyttleton Stores garden: 'Pink oyster success! I am experimenting with different growing methods. Bucket method and straigh...t out into the garden in a shady area in straw are next. It feels pretty good to add mushies to the list of foods we can grow here. Pink oysters love the heat and I would like to try growing King Stropharia come Autumn, which is a fantastic fungus for soil health.' #ediblemushrooms #yarrowgardens Would love to be able to grow oyster mushrooms like these in the DiG Schroom! thanks Cybele for offering to give us some can't wait to give them a go!
