Start this year off on the right foot, consistent training and sticking to your nutrition goals is very important for everyone but it is just as important to schedule in time to allow your body to rest and recover. Recovery allows for improved performance, permits time for our body to heal itself in preparation for the next training load, and decreases the risk of potential injury. To improve your recovery you can focus on the following; ... - Sleep aim for at least 8 hours per night - Hydrate try to drink at least 2L of water per day, more if possible. - Plan your meals in advance and get advice on appropriate nutritional intake required for your exercise or training program. - Complete both a warm up before exercise and cool down after any exercise. Ideally this should be specific to the training you are about to complete. - Foam rolling can be used pre and post exercise to help with recovery with no effect on performance. Improvement with DOMS, joint range of motion and possible improved flexibility. See more

The community at BCHP is like no other and you will feel that the second you walk through these doors. "Let’s talk mental health ... Truth is, this smiley face isn’t always my reality. There’s no denying 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone but unfortunately for me I’ve found myself in some darker places than what I’d like to admit. The reason I’m sharing this is because it’s more common than you would think. In Australia, it's estimated that 45% of people will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime. This is truely a heartbreaking number but we are very lucky to live in a country where we can make small changes to improve our happiness. If you’re reading this and you are in the same boat as me reaching out to your friends, family and loved ones is the best thing you can do for yourself! You need people around you who will support, encourage and help you get back on track. Move your body - even if you don’t feel like it. Trust me, you’ll feel a million times better afterwards. Max Ski-Erg or Rower (40 minute time cap) Within the workout each person from your team needs to complete a 1RM of the following exercises - !RM weight lifted and metres on your Erg will be combined and recorded. BB Deadlift BB Back Squat BB Bench press FINISHER - 1KM Run - All team members time will be subtracted from the the final score to decide the winning team. Not only do you need to have strength for your 1RM, you need speed for your Erg meters and you need endurance to get through all of this and then complete the run as fast as possible.
