24.01.2022 On line personal training is a great way to stay motivated, keep consistency, ensure correct form when executing a program and also keep the all important contact with people during this time of social distancing.

23.01.2022 Doughnuts are empty calories, they are in high in fat and sugar and contain no nutritional value which our bodies needs to function. Too much processed food high in sugar and fat can lead to weight gain, blood sugar problems and an increased risk of heart disease. While it is perfectly OK to enjoy a doughnut once in while, it's important to, most of the time eat food that has a purpose for our body to function. Whole foods including fruits, vegetables, grains (as whole as possible), legumes, dairy, protein, fish and lean meats should make up most of what we consume. Everything else should be considered a treat, not a staple. Being mindful of how we eat and what we eat is a great start to making better choices for our health.

19.01.2022 Hi there my beautiful and valued clients. When Body Prep Personal Training reopens on the 30th of March I want you to feel confident that I am taking every precaution to keep the gym clean and safe for you. I ask that you please bring a towel with you to your session, if you forget, I will have towels you can use which I will wash after each use. I also ask that you sanitise your hands before beginning your session and I will clean all equipment used prior to each of you attending. If you feel unwell, please stay home, and if I am unwell I will reschedule your session. Exercise plays an important role in keeping our body and mind healthy. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have and I look forward to continuing to work with you to reach your desired goals through these next few months. Kim

16.01.2022 Stretching is integral to keeping our body healthy, yet most of us don't do it unless we're finishing an exercise session. The benefits of stretching include: *Maintaining flexibility *Release of tension in tight muscles *Increased range of motion through joints therefore decreasing risk of joint injury *Improving posture, a hunch posture quite often results from weak back muscles and tight chest muscles... *Calming the mind if performed mindfully *Increased physical performance *Aids in decreased muscle soreness after physical activity So when and how long should we stretch? Stretching can be done every day. All stretches should be held for 30 to 60 seconds, but can be held for longer. Stretching is a crucial element of any exercise routine and while a static stretch (where a muscle is stretched and held) should be performed at the end of a routine, dynamic stretching (stretching muscles gently through a range of motion) can be performed before and is a great way of warming the muscles up. So when you find yourself sitting in front of the TV in the evening, get on the floor and stretch, it could even set you up for a good nights sleep.

13.01.2022 It looks like I managed to time my hysterectomy to coincide with the start of social isolation. While that was never the plan, I lay recovering on my hospital bed (in the maternity ward of all places!) with continuous, ever evolving Covid 19 coverage on the little television attached to the wall of my room. A hysterectomy at 37 years old! Not a path I had imagined I would be taking after raising 3 beautiful children for the last 11 years. The discovery of fibroids which ar...e non-cancerous growths in the uterus, set me down this road, and after monthly deterioration of what had been many normal years of average periods, I jumped on board to get the uterus out of me and quickly return to a new normal. A normal now where I will no longer have monthly bleeding and my ability to have another child if I choose to is no longer an option. So how do I feel now that I can't have anymore children? I, along with my husband, had already decided that our contribution of three littlies to this world was as far as we could go. Not to say we hadn't thought 4 would never happen. After my third child was born I was adamant that it wouldn't be an 'if' but 'when' we were going to have another baby. Life wasn't simple for us, raising our family was met with moving interstate, away from extended family and support twice. On both occasions we were accomplishing the trifector of new home, new job and new baby all at once. My third child did prove to be the most challenging of babies and Andrew would say often, had he been our first we would've stopped at one! I'm glad we didn't. We grew to become a family of five, plus one cat, 4 chickens and 2 fish. So as I lay on the maternity ward, with no baby by my side, hearing the cries of new borns learning to adjust to life outside of the womb, I just feel grateful. Grateful to have had 3 children, who are healthy, happy and looking forward to me returning home. I had worried I might be affected by the removal of my uterus but, I'm really not. The pain I had been experiencing the last few months was slowing me down. I was low in iron, suffering heavy bleeding and cramping that resembled labour for a couple of days every time, and I knew I didn't really have a choice. Recovery will be slow, but at a time where we're all instructed to isolate and spend time at home, which for me means at home with my three school aged babies, I will appreciate these next few months. It's time to be kind, love and support one another. See more
