21.01.2022 Two Division’ contains the last surviving cellblocks of the larger Boggo Road prison complex that operated in Brisbane for over a century. After starting life in 1903 as a state-of-the-art prison for women, Two Division went on become one of the most notorious male prisons in Australian history before its enforced closure in 1989. This publication provides a concise, information-packed history of this prison and its people, highlighting the unique qualities that make it such an important historical site. 64 pages, just $8 +postage.

20.01.2022 There will be a free public talk at the South Brisbane Cemetery this Sunday on the subject of 'Secrets of the Cemetery Symbols', in which historians Tracey and Chris will discuss the meanings behind various headstone symbols. This will be an outdoor event, under the shade of trees, so bring along a blanket or a chair and enjoy a bit of history among the graves. Free tea and coffee will also be served.... The talk will run from 10.30-11.30 am, including a Q and A session. We'd love to see you there, so it would be great if you could make it along. 17.01.2022 Today would have been John Banks' birthday. John was the volunteer manager at the museum until 2005 and was more responsible at that time than anyone else for the gaol remaining open as a heritage site. He was also the founding president of the BRGHS. We look forward with hope that one day the prison will be returned to not-for-profit management, run for public good and not private $. https://www.timetravelclub.com.au/2015/03/john.html

02.01.2022 Our wonderful volunteers have been busy crafting some pretties for this Sunday afternoon's events. We were inspired by Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and ...have a very informative public talk and twilight tour based on how different cultures around the world honour their loved ones who have passed on. We have included some folklore based around cemeteries as well. We are looking forward to the afternoon and the weather forecast is also looking good. Please come along and join us for a very informative afternoon at the South Brisbane Cemetery :D See more

01.01.2022 It's past time that factual, not-for-profit history tours got a fair go in Brisbane and stopped being squeezed out of places like the gaol and cemeteries by the private sector.
