24.01.2022 When a child is burnt, Fire and Rescue NSW are often one of the first on the scene. They are there on the frontline, as a crisis breaks helping to get children ...to safety and provide the first aid care they need. But Fire and Rescue NSW know that for these children, this is only the start of the journey. Their treatment and recovery can then continue for months and years down the track. Thats where our Burns Unit comes in. For many years, Fire and Rescue NSW and our Burns Unit have worked very closely to support each others invaluable work and raise awareness about burns safety and today, came together once more to host an Open Day for our patients and their families. Held at what is affectionately known as Fire Station Number 2, the Open Day gave our patients the opportunity to have a true firefighter experience, sitting in the trucks and seeing the firefighting and rescue equipment up close, while also giving them the chance to chat to the firefighters about the critical work they do to keep communities safe. While at the Hospital, the team from 400in4 Charity Ride also presented the Burns Unit with a cheque for $84,783, which they raised during this years ride. This incredible donation takes the overall support of Fire and Rescue NSW to well over $3.3 million and will go towards helping to continue funding treatment and rehabilitation for children with burns injuries. Thank you to everyone who attended todays special event and of course, to everyone from Fire and Rescue NSW for making a difference #forsickkids. Stay tuned for the photo album tomorrow.

23.01.2022 Our firefighting family is in mourning today following the death of one of our Senior Firefighters. He passed away in hospital following a medical episode while on duty this morning. We are providing support to the firefighters family, friends and colleagues during this tragic time.

23.01.2022 A timely reminder this season to keep a clear area at least 1m around and heater in your house

22.01.2022 It’s getting cold! Don’t put yourself or your family at risk, be careful when turning heater on for the first time and keep everything in the house ‘a metre from the heater. Turn off heaters and electric blankets before leaving home or getting into bed... Clean lint filters in the clothes dryer before or after each use Don’t overload power boards Keep candles away from curtains and extinguish them before leaving the room Don’t use LPG cylinders for cooking or heating indoors as they can leak and the gas is both toxic and highly explosive Ensure you have a working smoke alarm

21.01.2022 In 2019, A group of riders comprising of firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW, ACT Fire & Rescue and some representatives of the major sponsors are riding from Huskisson to Mt Kosciusko over 4 days to raise money for the Burns Unit at The Children's Hospital at Westmead. 20.01.2022 A Day in the Life of a Firefighter #preparedforanything

16.01.2022 This is Jozeph from Wallalong NSW. Jozeph was heartbroken when his visit to Fire and Rescue NSW Station 382 Morpeth was met with a closed door. Jozephs Great ...Grandfather sent us this photo and were sorting out a tour in due course. Remember you can stop by any station and request a tour. If its not attended you can direct message its Facebook page or google their number to find out what time may work. Many of FRNSWs Firefighters started their career with a station tour as soon as they could walk! Our Open Day is just weeks away, were opening our doors between 10am and 2pm on Saturday May 18th

16.01.2022 aaaaaaand he's back on the pole!

16.01.2022 This image shows why we tell kids and adults why its important to get down low and go go go if there was a fire in your house. The smoke layers are thicke...r and substantially hotter higher up. You have a better chance of escaping a fire by crawling along the floor to an exit. #frnsw #frnswmedia #preparedforanything See more

15.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

14.01.2022 Theres always something going on, which is why we, and Gandalf the accelerant detection dog, are #preparedforanything

13.01.2022 At Fire and Rescue we value Respect! We recognise and accept the differences, wishes, rights, feelings and value of others. We extend our hearts to the families, friends and emergency services who are victim to such senseless attacks. Small gestures can go a long way in this world!

12.01.2022 CHANGE YOUR CLOCK, CHECK YOUR SMOKE ALARM Daylight saving ends early this Sunday morning, 7 April, so FRNSW and fire services across the country are again encouraging people to check their smoke alarms when they change their clocks. More than half (56%) of fatal house fires between 2000 and 2014 had no smoke alarms. Most of these deadly fires also occurred between midnight and 6am when people were asleep.

11.01.2022 A fire can take hold in 3 minutes. it only takes seconds to prevent one. Before you go to bed tonight, check that your electric blanket is in good working order. Frayed or damaged cords can start a fire. For more fire safety advice visit fire.nsw.gov.au/winter. #PreparedForAnything #AnyoneAnywhereAnytime

02.01.2022 Macey is just one of many reasons why the 400in4 Charity Ride was created. Now in its 14th year, with your support, firefighters have raised $750,000 with ALL proceeds donated to the Burns Unit. Remember:... GET OUT - STAY OUT ZERO-ZERO-ZERO Stop, Drop, Cover and Roll Crawl Down Low and Go, Go, Go!!! . . 01.01.2022 Almost 50% of all house fires in NSW start in the kitchen. Trying to extinguish a pot of oil on fire with water looks like this. Put the lid on to smother or use a fire blanket if its safe to do so. Always have a working smoke alarm. #keeplookingwhencooking

01.01.2022 With winter approaching and the rains set in, well all be using our clothes dryers more frequently. This is a timely reminder on how to prevent a clothes dryer fire . Clean the filter, ensure adequate air flow around the dryer, dont leave the dryer operating when you are not home.
