20.01.2022 We would have to say that we are just a wee bit chuffed to be invited to present our bike at Six One - Australian Custom Automotive Exhibition, Saturday April 27th. at Seaworks Maritime Precinct. Its an application / invitation only display hosted by the creators of Fuel Tank and Return of the Cafe Racers. Six One is a showcase of Aussie built 4 & 2 wheeled (& us in the middle with 3) custom creations. Really looking forward to seeing all the other vehicles that have be...en invited or selected for display. Only hoping that people realize that Shelby is a purpose built race bike & that it is. It was even out racing this weekend so she has a few battle scars now up close. Be sure to find your way down there for a looksie. Apparently opens at 10am & $10 entry. Check out Six Ones event page on face book https://www.facebook.com/events/552770498479418/ Or their web page for details https://thesix.one/ See more

17.01.2022 All dressed up & nowhere to go, dam you Corona virus. We have put photos & videos up of this bike as we have progressed with the build but here she is, finished & ready to hit the track. Our involvement in this build as Classic Wheels & Spokes, Otway Hydroblasting & Metal Works has been a total rebuild of the frame with chromoly tubing, even back to hydroblasting the knuckles, all engine components hydroblasted, build & convert gearbox to 4 speed, wheels build, total assembly with all components. Basically everything but the engine internals which was done off site. The owner has now had the tank painted & shes looking fantastic. Looking forward to seeing it out on track when racing starts again.

16.01.2022 The suns starting to come out a bit now, not long till we fire up some race bikes with Mt Tarrengower Hill Climb soon followed by the Southern Classic. We always get an influx of wheels to do before big events. Tip of the day, drag your bike out this weekend & check your wheels, if you need help, yell out now, save the last minute stress & rush.

16.01.2022 Its not just 3 wheelers leaving our workshop. Heres a WLA Harley going off to its home today, still a few things to be finished before getting on the track later in the year.

15.01.2022 All went well with the new Norton Atlas P3 sidecar at Bonanza. Most important is that the owner is super happy. Paint job still to come but well look forward to seeing it out on track in its first race this weekend at Victorian Historic Champs.

12.01.2022 Still looking for a Christmas gift for the motorbike mad / bike resto person. Dont forget we can do a gift voucher, just drop us a message or give us a call & we can sort you out with some wheel building work, hydroblasting or even a welding job or two. 0439 651 458 Thanks for the support throughout the year from our customers but even you loyal page followers, every share or even like click or comment spreads our little business just a little bit more. ... Hopefully next year might take us on some new adventures. Well still be racing our classic road bikes but it might be time to drag a few dirt bikes out & throw a leg over for a bit of dirt action. Perhaps even a ride to Cape York has been mentioned, hmmm many plans to be hatched over a few beers on that topic. Christmas holiday closures - just kidding, we never close unless we have gone off riding our bikes. At this stage just Christmas & Boxing Day. Have a safe & happy Christmas, bring on 2020 Cheers Tim & Michelle 0439 651 458

10.01.2022 Rollie Free (18/11/1900-11/10/1984) Said to be one of the most famous pictures in motorcycling history is this one of Roland Free. Taken in 1948 at Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah. Rollie had adopted this style to minimize wind resistance. However in 1948 Rollie tore his leathers in an earlier run at 147 mph. In his effort to break the American Land Speed Record Rollie discarded his gear, he wore a bathing suit, a shower cap, and a pair of borrowed sneakers. He broke the record ...with a 150.313 run. Rollie rode the very first Vincent HRD owned by John Edgar. The actual bike continued racing into the 1960s & then became part of a private collection. The bike was then sold from the Harris collection in Nov 2010 for a rumored US$1.1 million. Rollie Free....we salute you......legend of motor sport. He was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1998. See more

08.01.2022 @HistoricWinton Norton, the company of the famous motorcycles will turn 110 in 2018 and Historic Winton will celebrate with a big display of Nortons. Heres a 1962 750cc Norton Atlas. Winton Motor Raceway 27 & 28 May. See you there!

08.01.2022 Custom rim done for a customer this week. Not all that common but looks the part on the bike. This is a smooth shoulderless rim for a Harley Davidson.

08.01.2022 We get asked all the time where do we get our spokes from. Well, we make them all here, onsite by hand. We start with blank spokes, in the case of these photos these are stainless steel, butted blanks. We then bend them to the appropriate bend required. They are then cut to length, they then go through the thread roller.... If you have broken a few spokes & want to replace them yourself its easy to post us the pattern of what you require. Youll just have to remove a matching spoke from the rim of what you want us to make. We also have 100s of patterns on file here so we may just have what you need. Were happy to help out with spoke construction & supply, replacement spokes, or were just as happy to do the whole job including construct, lace & true for you. Probably the tip of the day in regards to wheel building is make sure you measure your offset before you go pulling your wheel apart. Document where you measured that offset from too. A lot of our work consists of people bringing us a wheel all pulled apart, they have tried to tackle replacing all the spokes in a wheel themselves. They either run out of time / interest, or decide they dont have the patience to build it, the job comes to us in pieces. Particularly if its not standard it can be a lot of calculated guess work without the bike here to set the offset again.

07.01.2022 2 x P3 chassis are coming together. Hoping to hit the track early 2018. Watch this space!!!!

06.01.2022 Drum roll please We have something very exciting happening on Saturday. Tried to have a sneak peek, this is all you get ;)

05.01.2022 We have to say a big thank you to all those customers that have been patient with work over the last few weeks. With the running of the Southern Classic followed the weekend later the Australian Historic Titles we had our hands full preparing bikes for racing not only our bikes but customers bikes. And what a ride we had for those few weeks. Many people that follow our business & this page know that we also race the bikes we build. As a matter of fact we eat, sleep & breath ...historic racing, thats our life & we wouldnt have it any other way. So thank you to those people that were OK for their job to be put back a little if it wasnt urgent, & also a big thanks for the messages & calls offering encouragement & support for our racing. Also a big thanks to our family & friends for assisting us in all the ways they do. Even mum for sending cookies & cupcakes to the track for us all. So in summary I think all the bikes survived quiet well, not too much stuff to fix. At the Southern Tim did extremely well on the Indian in what was just a spectacularly huge field. The Period 4 Honda sidecar bought home the goods with a 2nd outright overall with Tim on the bars & Clint swinging. A highlight was Tim & Clint winning the Urquhart handicap. Its the second time this bike has won this handicap which makes it all so special to be presented the cup by the famous man himself Lindsay Urquhart, the man who actually built this bike back in 1972. Another special moment from the Southern was our period 3 sidecar #428 being selected as best presented by Shannons Australia. Its always very special when you receive acknowledgement for the blood sweat & tears building these things. Big thank you to Shannons Australia for the award. Also at the Southern was Luke & James Rockcliffe who grabbed a 2nd in the P3 sidecar class on a bike built by us. Well done Luke & James. The week later at the Nationals saw both the Period 3 sidecars built in this workshop go head to head with Tim & Clint on #428 & Luke on #53 with Michelle filling in for James. There were a few running issues with #428 but both bikes qualified & raced in the top 4 all weekend. Sadly no title for our quick bike #428 as it did a gear box on the grid of the last race. That left the door wide open for Luke & Michelle on #53 to sneak in for 3rd at the Nationals. Boy were they wrapped but thats racing, especially historic racing is all about. #53 ran faultless all 3 days. Tim also rode the Indian at the Nats & boy did he ride the wheels off it, literally, & yes we did purchase the 12 photo sequence of Tim laying the Indian down. Prior to that he had just set a personal PB & was the first of the hand shifters in the P2 class. Not too much damage to the bike, I think Tim may be due for some new leathers though. So its back to work for us, also time to prep some bikes to go burn some rubber on the Geelong water front next weekend at the Geelong Revival. See more

04.01.2022 What a week were having. Two requests for publications for our sidecar custom build Shelby for overseas publications & today shes on exhibition at Australian Custom Automotive show Six One. Shelby lacks the chrome some of these other show bikes have but its a purpose built race bike. I dont think there are any other vehicles here that 2 weeks ago were flogging round the race track at full speed. I did the run around with some happy snaps just before opening. My photos... just wont do these vehicles justice. I cant pick which ones are my favourite as coming from a builders prospect theres just so much work in all of them. We wish all the success to the promotors of Six One, theres a lot of work gone into putting an exhibition together like this. The people are starting to roll in so if your in Melbourne & have nothing to do get your butt down here. See more

02.01.2022 So you got your new boots on & dont want to get them wet crossing the creek. This is how you do it !!!
