24.01.2022 Today is the 50th Anniversary of world Earth Day! and while some people might not think this is a big deal... they are wrong! It’s an opportunity for you to take a look at how you run your business as well as your day to day life in consumable land. ... Last year I made the decision to scrap all the nice packaging, paper and bubble wrap and all the rest of the fancy stuff. We swapped: bubble wrap for green wrap Muslim bags for 100% recycled craft paper White wallet boxes for earth board boxes And those white mailer bags for compostable postage bags. We also partnered with the cool cats at #sendle because they are the only Australian % carbon neutral delivery company that also provides us with epic compostable corn mailer bags! A lot of people are anti leather and I get that... you don’t like seeing animals killed for no reason, well neither do i! All our leather is sourced from tanneries, that only obtain hides as a result of the meat industry and we don’t use chromium treated hides. Our veg tan is bark tanned and I use every tiny little bit of leather I can to make things like rings, pull tabs, hang tags and keyrings. This is not throw away fashion I’m making here people... these are products built to last We all have two footprints on this world... make yours count! 22.01.2022 I really wanted to put these two photos up to show how bloody hard it is to get this online image thing right The first image is pretty much on point as to what these cuffs look like, the second image taken only half a meter away and in the exact same room, makes the colours look crazy wrong! As a small biz owner I relentlessly try and do everything myself, even if it takes a trillion hours longer. This is just one of those little annoying, pain in the ass things t...hat I have to get right. My customers and my products rely on it! So yeah, I just wanted to share this because sometimes I just can’t capture the beauty in leather like I want to or like it deserves. 21.01.2022 LEARNING CURVE: It’s a massive, like I mean humongous, gargantuan, mammoth part of leather work to have sharp tools That ol’ saying that if you have sharp tools, you ain’t doin’ any work... well yeah that pretty much hits the nail on the head (lovin’ these tool puns ), when talking about leather work! ... Yeah i have days were I can’t be F’d but thats more due to #life rather than my work.
