21.01.2022 Christmas Eve Boolarra Santa Run 24th December. Santa will be cruising Boolarra on the big red truck again this year. We need to nip out of town first for a special visit and then will be travelling around town from about 6pm, aiming to be at the park in the middle of town by 7pm (for out of town families). Parents and carers: To be Covid safe, we have organised pre-packed lolly bags. Please make sure the kids stay back from the road until the tanker has fully stopped. Many thanks to the Boolarra Community Development Group for paying for the lollies this year.

19.01.2022 Strong winds for the next couple of days, folks. Please check any burns you have done recently and monitor them closely for signs of re-ignition.

18.01.2022 Summer is coming - Are you prepared?

18.01.2022 G’day folks, some of you in the darlimurla rd area will be without power for a little while as the brigade just attended a power pole fire... We were able to ensure it was completely out with the use of our newest equipment - a thermal imaging camera that we acquired through the district 27 pick list program that was funded through donations from the 2019/20 fire season. Hopefully the power will be back on soon as SP aus net are onsite fixing the pole.

18.01.2022 Fire restrictions in our area will end on the 16th of March. No burnoffs may be lit without a permit until that date. Once restrictions are lifted, please register any burnoffs by ringing 1800 668511.

14.01.2022 Did you hear it? 7pm Monday every second week when we are training we test the alerting siren - you may have seen the sign on the way into town... If you hear it any other time you should seek further information as there could be an incident close by.... Btw, if you see us out and about tonight, we are training..

13.01.2022 Just a reminder that fire restrictions come into force at 1am this Monday - 14th December. Make sure any burnoff are completely out please.

13.01.2022 Stand at dawn to honour those who gave their all for our future. Lest we forget.

13.01.2022 Stand at dawn, ANZAC Day 2020. We couldnt take part in the traditional wreath laying services that are usually held so a member from Boolarra raised our flag at the station. The Last Post was broadcast from Rick and Regina Teychennes verandah up on Piggery Road and was as clear as a bell at the station. I saw many people standing in their driveways to honour our ANZACs. Lest We Forget.

12.01.2022 With sadness, we acknowledge the loss of an FFM firefighter over the weekend working to protect the community. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends and workmates.

12.01.2022 Hi all. We were just called out to a report of columns of smoke near the rail trail along Duke Street. In this instance, it was a false alarm however it is important to remember, if you see something that you are concerned about, it is the right thing to call 000 and report it. We would much rather turn out to investigate - it is all a part of keeping our community safe. Whilst the little bit of rain we have had today was pleasant, the bush is dry and we are coming into the warmest part of summer. With the devastating fires across the country, many in our community may be feeling anxious and reliving experiences from the past. Please look out for each other, and seek additional support if you need to. Cheers Captain Di

11.01.2022 IMPORTANT message for residents of Latrobe City Council who have water tanks. Please note the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting there to be a high chance of ...a thunderstorm activity and rain in the west Gippsland during this afternoon and evening. Due to the bushfires in East Gippsland and Tasmania, if you rely on tank water for drinking, we suggest you be proactive and disconnect your downpipes before this rain comes. Ash, debris or smoke particles on your roof catchment can enter your tank during rain events. To help prevent further debris from entering your tank it is best to disconnect your downpipes. As Latrobe City is a non-bushfire affected municipality, we are not eligible for any water replacement programs for any residents affected with contaminated tank water. You are required to ensure that you are in attendance, with sufficient water, to monitor your burn. If you live in town, Latrobe City bylaws do NOT permit burning off. ... 08.01.2022 Hi all A request from Linda Snell, Yinnar South Recovery Officer with Latrobe City, that we share the following link to a survey they are running to collect information about community preparedness for the coming fire season. Please take the time to complete it. Cheers Di (Captain)... Should I stay or should I go? Can you spare three minutes to complete our emergency preparedness survey? This will help us work together with your community to make sure in the next emergency event, everyone is prepared! The survey includes an option to have some help with making sure you and your property are well prepared. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/areyouprepared2020

06.01.2022 Total Fire Ban for a number f regions across the state tomorrow, folks, including West and South Gippsland.

04.01.2022 We are deeply saddened to hear of this loss in NSW today. The firefighting work of the aerial crews is incredible. Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of the three crew.

03.01.2022 Hi folks Following direction from the CFA, all non essential brigade activity has been cancelled for the foreseeable future in light of the current Corona Virus situation. Emergency response will be as usual but we have asked our members not to respond if they are unwell or have potentially been exposed to the virus. We will also need to follow social distancing measures as best we can at incidents.... Non essential activities include Brigade training and meetings, Sunday morning radios, junior brigade and community education events. We will have members completing regular appliance and radio checks so that we know our equipment is ready to go as needed, however this will be done by a small number of people. Look after each other in these challenging times. Be kind and patient, and take time to just be. Gardening is good. Captain Di
