24.01.2022 2020 Seniors! Congratulations, you have finally reached the ever elusive Valedictory Day! As you put on your uniforms for the last time, take a moment to think about not only all of your hard work that got you to this point, but also all the people in your "village" who helped you - parents, friends and family, your peers, your community, your coaches and team members, your Principals and Leadership teams, your Teachers, the wellbeing teams of Guidance Officers, Chaplains and... School Based Health Nurses, the Education Support Officers and Scientific Officers, the Office and Administration teams, the groundsman, schools officers and cleaners. Take a moment to thank them, for they are proud of the journey they have taken with you! Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away! You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes You can steer yourself Any direction you choose. - Dr Zues

21.01.2022 R U O K Day 2020 A huge shout out to our school leaders and students for the great support they have shown in supporting 2020 RUOK day. 2020 has certainly been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. The message for R U OK Day 2020 is ‘There’s more to say after R U OK?’. Australians need to know what to say when someone says they are n...ot OK and guide them through a conversation that could change a life. You do not have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they are in crisis, which can make a positive difference to their life. You can learn what to say at www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask See more

06.01.2022 APPRENTICE APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN! We’re on the hunt for the next generation of electrical tradies, with apprenticeships available for electrotechnology electric...ians, linespersons, and underground cable jointers. These are some of Qld’s most in-demand apprenticeships, offering industry-leading training with safety and customers at the heart of all we do. There’ll be 86 new starters joining Energex and Ergon in February 2021. Energex apprenticeships will be offered at Berrinba, Burleigh Heads, Caboolture, Cooroy, Gatton, Geebung, Greenslopes, Kelvin Grove, Landsborough, Raceview, Southport and Staplyton. (And don’t forget to check out the Ergon Energy Apprentice page for opportunities in the beautiful regional Qld) Applications close on Tuesday, September 8. For all the details and how to apply: https://bit.ly/3l57osQ and click on the vid to hear from our own Hayden Fletcher and Kendelle Satour. #apprenticeships #electricaltrades #qldjobs #recruitment TOP 10 TIPS 1. The only age requirement is to be at least 17 when you start. There’s no upper limit. 2. You need to have completed Yr12 and passed senior maths A or general maths and English (a science subject is also very handy ) OR completed equivalent pre-vocational studies (which might include a Cert II in Electrotechnology) OR have relevant work experience 3. We can’t take applications from current apprentices registered with an RTO, but we can consider applications from apprentices who have been made redundant 4. Sorry, we don’t offer school-based apprenticeships or traineeships 5. All roles and locations are on the Energex (and Ergon!) websites. If a location’s not listed, it’s because nothing is available this year. 6. Best way to make your application stand out is to be really thorough and detailed 7. You need to apply for a particular role at a particular location you can’t nominate multiple locations 8. To help those who are shortlisted, we’ll be sharing some useful pre-assessment tests and links on our website in September 9. Successful candidates need to be able to start in Feb 2021 10. Apprentice salaries, allowances and working conditions are in our Enterprise Agreement (see p97 for pay rates): https://bit.ly/2FKmZxF
