24.01.2022 We are very pleased and excited to announce that in the State Budget delivered yesterday that funding for a dedicated bus service for Officer Secondary College was included. We have been in discussion and advocating for this since 2016 and thank the support of our school, our school council, our local MP Brad Battin and local Cardinia Councillor Brett Owen and the greater Officer Secondary Community. 07.01.2022 Dear Parents, Guardians and Students, the Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, announced yesterday an outline for term 4. Included in this advice were the following key dates: During the week of October 5th to 9th-Students studying a Unit 3 and 4 subject can attend school only for essential assessments and the external assessment exam the GAT on Wednesday October 7th. Remote Learning continues for other year levels. October 12th -Year 11 and 12 students return to onsite le...arning. Year 10 students can return to school to attend their VCE classes. Remote Learning continues for Years 7 to 10. (Year 10 students attending onsite classes do not need to remain at school after scheduled VCE class) Year 7 to 10 students term 4 return- Date to be determined and is dependent on health advice- Remote learning continues in term 4 until advised. On-site supervision for children of permitted workers and vulnerable students will continue to be provided consistent with existing guidelines. Students studying Unit 3 and 4 subjects will be provided with an outline of assessment for week one. I encourage all students to continue to complete practice tasks for the GAT. This external assessment is an important element of the overall assessment for Unit 3 and 4 subjects. The College will continue to provide details to families as information is released by the Department of Education and Training. Take care.

While free of costs ($), this careers program requires parental consent to participate, so please ensure this is completed ASAP. If you missed the previous post about this program, see below: Career Education Program - starting next week during Intervention classes. This program will help your Year 9 child to:... learn about what skills and abilities they could bring to a job find out about what jobs match their abilities, interests and personality, and the subjects they need for those jobs Students will complete a series of online questions and quizzes during class time and once completed, students will be invited to a 30-minute meeting with a qualified careers advisor.

06.01.2022 Dear Students and Parents, On Monday 16/11/20 Officer Secondary College begins its 2021 Academic Year. On this day all students will commence their 2021 subjects with their new 2021 teachers. To facilitate this: -On Monday 16/11/20 all students (2021 Year 8-12) will begin school at 8:45. -At 8:45 all students will have Learning to Learn in their 2021 LC groups where they will be provided with a paper copy of their 2021 HeadStart timetable. -At 9:10 all students will be in cla...ss. -2021 Years 8-9 (2021 classes) will finish at 3:00. -2021 Year 10-12 (2021 classes) will finish at 3:10. From Tuesday 17/11/20, due to the requirement to continue to have staggered start, finish and break time. -2021 Year 8-9 (2021 classes) will start at 8:45 each day and finish at 3:00pm (2:20pm on Wednesday). -2021 Year 10-12 (2021 classes) will start after L2L/LC/Intervention each day -Monday and Friday (9:10am) -Tuesday and Thursday (9:00am) -Wednesday (9:45am) -2021 Year 10-12 (2021 classes) will finish at 3:10 pm (2:30pm on Wednesday). -We will continue to run the staggered recess and lunchtimes please see attached document for these timings. Uniform: A reminder that all students in Year 8-10 are required to wear the OSC Summer Uniform unless they have PE / Sport on that day. In which case they can wear the Sport Uniform. If a student is out of uniform from Monday 16/11/20 they are required to show the Sub School Administration Assistant (SSAA) in their building the note. The SSAA will then provide the student with a uniform pass. It is the student’s responsibility to produce this when required. Please remember that hoodies and baseball hats are not acceptable at Officer Secondary College. All students in Year 11-12 are required to wear their OSC summer uniform unless they have a scheduled VCE Practical HPE class. Equipment: As Monday 16/11/20 is the start of 2021 classes students should provide a new work book to for each subject to record their learning. This workbook can continue to be used once students return in 2021. Students should also continue to attend school each morning with a charged laptop. We are aware that students may not have their 2021 text books yet and staff will be making allowances for this. As of the commencement of school January next year, all students will be required to have their 2021 textbooks as per the booklist. We encourage all parents and students to check the reenrolment information on Compass which includes all the above information and additional information such as booklists.

04.01.2022 PERFORMING ARTS MASTERCLASS: Limited places available for 2021 A limited number of places are available for students to join the Year 8 and Year 9 Performing Arts Masterclass in 2021. We are calling for expressions of interest from students who are passionate about dance, drama or music. More information and application forms are available from Ms Whitworth in the Arts and Technology Office or on Compass. Applications must be submitted to Ms Whitworth by Monday 30th November.

04.01.2022 We would like to wish all our parents, students and school community members good luck through this latest lockdown. While DET has indicated that we are not in full remote learning, please note the following: Lesson plans are up on Compass. For Years 7-10 these will direct students to their subject merit tasks. Years 11 and 12 will have work that supports them with their VCE and VCAL certificate The majority of staff will not be running live lessons. We are aware that man...y students were unable to collect books, chargers and other items and we do not wish to cause undue stress to our families The College office will be closed until further notice but can be contacted using the OSC email address [email protected] In the event that the lockdown is extended, the College will release additional tools and information to support online learning.
