18.01.2022 There is a string of amazing UFC cards coming up over the next few weeks commencing with this beauty that kicks off early tomorrow morning. Here's coach Luke's picks. Who are you picking? 1. Teixeira via finish. This will be an out and out war with both fighters bringing the ability to finish and plenty of experience. Both are worthy to hold the belt but Teixeira's ability to withstand punishment and pull off a win under pressure makes me lean slightly in his favour (ever so ...slightly). Expect a Rocky style war from these two. 2. Yan by decision. Yan has exceptional Muay Thai. There's nothing flashy about what he does, he just applies solid fundamentals with pressure while having a solid wrestling base that gives him the confidence to do so. Sandhagen is a worthy challenger who is quick and will land some creative blows but my feeling is he'll find himself out of his depth and Yan will take over as the rounds go by. 3. Hooker by TKO. Islam is the heavy betting favourite and seen by many as the new Khabib. Unlike Khabib his striking is pretty good but at a significantly lower level to Hooker's. One might say Islam's striking is just good enough to get himself into trouble against Hooker. I see this as a classic striker vs grappler contest with Islam having the edge on the ground. The question is can he get the fight to the ground before the very clever Hooker catches him.
