24.01.2022 The woman who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. The woman who walks alone is likely to find herself in places no one has ever been before .. ~ Albert Einstein ~ Art by Pola Lopez

24.01.2022 THE KIND OF LOVE YOU DESERVE~~ More than anything, we long to be seen. To be held in a safe, nonjudgemental, all-accepting presence, and be seen through loving ...eyes. And being seen is what we fear the most. More than death, we fear intimacy's piercing gaze. And yearn for it all the same. It takes such courage to show yourself! To take off your mask, when you look and feel your worst to take off your mask (the one that was suffocating you anyway) and to say, "Look. Look. Here I am, world". To let yourself be seen before you're ready. When you feel the most rotten, the most dirty, the most wretched and unloveable, the most unevolved, the most boring, the most confused and lonely and broken and sad and angry and hurt, to let yourself be seen there. There, in that sore, shameful place. Let light in. Come out of hiding and invite someone into your 'private' world. Let them witness the real, authentic you. Before that pitiful defence called 'personality'. Say, "Look. Look, friend. Here I am". Take the risk of being loved! The risk of being rejected, yes. The risk of being shamed again, laughed at again, ridiculed again, maybe. The risk of being seen as a failure. As sick, or broken, or ugly, or weak. But the risk of being loved? Yes. Take the risk today because life is short, and it's exhausting trying to repress your authentic self. Let yourself be witnessed in the raw. The vulnerable you. The you without protection, without answers, without expertise. The imperfect you. Because the deepest shame is only healed in love's light. And your flaws were always longing to be touched with an awareness so tender that it would birth entire universes to find itself. And you can fall now into the arms of a loving friend. Who will hold you. Naked. Unprotected. Imperfect. Loveable. Just as you are. This is the kind of love you deserve. True human love which is also God's love. The kind of love that bathes you in gentleness when you feel the most ashamed, the most frightened, the most lost. When you feel the smallest. A huge love that holds you. Never settle for less. ~Jeff Foster

24.01.2022 With practice, we can see that our wounded child is not only us. Our wounded child may represent several generations. Our mother may have suffered throughout he...r life. Our father may have suffered. Perhaps our parents weren’t able to look after the wounded child in themselves. So when we’re embracing the wounded child in us, we are embracing all the wounded child in our past generations. This practice is not a practice for ourselves alone, but for numberless generations of ancestors and descendants. Thich Nhat Hanh Art: Anna Lee @annaofthemedow IG

21.01.2022 "Shifting your perspective can bring harmony and calm to your life. Ask what would water do?"

19.01.2022 Trauma 101. Some basics. Learn to ask 'what happened to you', vs. 'what's wrong with you'? To remain curious, because this journey is never linear. Patterns wil...l be repeated, hurts will happen, f*ckups will arise, until new ways of living are not only 'learned' but actually consolidated. And even then, major stressors will tend to push back upon these protections, AKA our 'adaptations' - the many patterns and identities we created in order to survive. Learning to 'repair' is the essential relational alchemy... and it takes time. Patience. Compassion. Support. Encouragement. Lovingkindness. To repeat: trauma healing is not linear. Ever.

19.01.2022 "Many of us are braced, psychically and physically, against the signals of distress that continually barrage us in the news, on our streets, in our environment. As if to reduce their impact on us, we contract like a turtle into its shell. But we can choose to turn to the breath, the body, the sensesfor they help us to relax and open to wider currents of knowing and feeling." ~ Joanna Macy : Lion's Roar

17.01.2022 "In those moments when we feel held, our nervous systems down-regulate, our minds soften, our hearts open, and we come into an ancient sort of rest. A rest that we've been longing for in a lifetime that always seemed just out of reach. The rest from becoming. While our true nature as open, luminous awareness is the ultimate holding environment, as tender human beings we are wired to rest within a relational matrix. To enter into this field with another weaved of the light-filled strands of presence and of space is one of the great mysteries of the embodied world." - Matthew Licata https://www.instagram.com/p/CDElbkFHEUe/

16.01.2022 Bowen therapy can change your life! This is a bold statement.... but if you talk to any Bowen Therapist you will notice something in common, and that is their p...assion for their work. Like myself, they have witnessed the profound healing of this Art, for themselves and others. I had chronic back issues ever since I can remember, which became severe after a mountaineering accident. I tried all manner of conventional and alternative treatments, with limited resolve. One day by chance I had been speaking with some friends and they said they were studying Bowen Therapy and suggested I try it. Like most people, I had never heard of it and decided that I had nothing to lose. Well laying on the table I thought to myself this is the weirdest thing I have ever experienced...... Miraculously, after one treatment I stood up and noticed an immediate difference, my pain had gone! I was so astonished because I was used to my standard treatment of hot packs in preparation for the crunch. Which I found to be a brutal treatment with my small frame at the time. It was a ‘light bulb’ moment...WOW....I knew that one day I was going to study this technique. This was over 22 years ago, and now I have been practising Bowen Therapy for over 13 years and have experienced countless incredible stories, which ‘never ceases’ to amaze me. Like many others, Bowen Therapy completely transformed my life. I am so passionate about the work that I embarked on These Two Hands - Bowen Therapy Documentary with my brother Sean Dobra, filmmaker and founder of Starmax Films to share the message far and wide. Bowen Therapy works so deeply that it shifts the body into a new state... change your body and change your life. You may ask how could this be possible.... heard the statement, ‘what is happening in the outside world is reflective of what’s happening inside’? When we shift the body with Bowen Therapy, we actually change the neurological system and essentially the brain. When the brain changes, we change and consequently our lives change. In the documentary Oswald Rentsch, one of Tom Bowen's devoted students was committed to learning this technique after his wife Elaine found lasting relief after Mr. Bowens treatments. She had sustained pain all her life following falling out of a moving car during childhood. Elaine’s freedom from debilitating pain changed her life and the path that she would take with Oswald, who eventually left his farming work, to pursue a career as a full-time therapist and later taking Bowen Therapy to the World. Bowen Therapy works to resolve many conditions and is known to change many people’s lives. The time it takes and the level of change is dependent on many factors. Healing cannot be forced and comes when the person is ready. Written by Helen Dobra Clarence Valley Bowen Therapy

15.01.2022 Did you know: Eye movements can increase blood flow to the vertebral artery and stimulate the vagus nerve as it passes through the upper neck. Relaxing the muscles in the eyes engages an innate reflex called the oculocardiac reflex (OCR) which initiates a parasympathetic response to slow down the heart rate and lower blood pressure. An individual can faint if this response happens too quickly. However, we can also stimulate the (OCR) with gentle pressure on the eyes which c...an have a calming effect on the nervous system. You can relax your eyes through the use of an eye pillow placed over your eyes during relaxation or by placing the palms over the eyes and applying very light pressure. A lovely way to stimulate the vagus nerve is through relaxing the eyes and releasing the muscles in the neck. The eyes are regulated by twelve extraocular muscles that extend down into the subocciptical muscles that surround the upper cervical vertebrae. We can often see in each others eyes whether we feel stressed or relaxed. This is because the extraocular nerve endings have a direct connection to the vagus nerve. Learn more here:

14.01.2022 We humans are storytellers by nature, weaving the language of words and images as we reflect upon, make sense of, and bear witness to the unfolding of meaning i...n our lives. As Maya Angelou so powerfully reminds us, There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. The body also has a story, a somatic narrative. The language of the body is not words, but sensations, which carry life essence. How the body views and organizes experience is by way a vast network of intelligence and is speaking to us all the time. It is also agonizing to bear an untold somatic story, which many with histories of trauma and other relational wounding know inside their muscles, nervous systems, and cell tissue. Within a sanctuary of safety, this more subtle language can be illuminated, articulated, and integrated slowly, one microsecond at a time. As the narratives of body and mind are interlaced and interwoven, we move toward wholeness, as the multilayered storylines can emerge in more coherent, compassionate, and merciful ways. While it can seem so dense and tangled at times, so uncertain, so lonely, and so scary the pathways are ripe for reorganization and long in their own way to open and reorganize. It is safety and love that will facilitate that process. Photo: autumn glory at Maroon Bells, by Mike Scheid

11.01.2022 Medical professionals around the world are choosing Bowen Therapy. Bowen is progressively becoming recognized as an invaluable complementary therapy. We intervi...ewed an array of medical professionals who utilize Bowen Therapy in ‘These Two Hands’ documentary, including, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, midwives, pharmacists, to name a few. We were privileged to hear their amazing stories and how they have helped so many by using Bowen Therapy. In addition, they all highlighted the need for broader community awareness and acceptance as a stand-alone therapy to be integrated with orthodox medicine. The landscape of medicine around the world has been slowly progressing toward a more holistic and individualized approach to healing. This has been due to increase awareness with access to information through social media, limitations of orthodox medicine, cultural ties with traditional healing, a growing trend towards holistic and preventative medicine. This approach to healthcare incorporates a patient’s mind, spirituality, and sense of community into the healing process. Integrative medicine has been typically well received and the demand has been steadily increasing in primary hospitals in many countries in Europe, the USA, and Asia. Countries like China have led the way over the millennia, by incorporating specific healing foods, herbs, acupuncture, medical Chi Gong, and more hospitals. Currently, there is a great demand to integrate allopathic and traditional healing in developing countries. Many governments such as South Africa and India are moving forward with formal integration, undertaking the necessary research and policy changes. There is ‘huge potential’ for Bowen Therapy to be integrated into the mainstream health care system, in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and medical clinics. ‘These Two Hands’ documentary project continues to be invaluable in helping to raise awareness and contribute to the growth of this incredible modality. We greatly appreciate your ongoing support. Please help us to continue to spread the word by engaging with us online, sharing our posts on Facebook and Instagram, and getting your connections to like our page. Thank you to the following Medical professionals for sharing your passion and insights: Andrea Neale, Dr. Jaimini Raniga, Eleanor Oyston, Georgi Ilchev, Maurao Murganti, and Merrin Wake. 10.01.2022 "Until we teach the mind and body safety....."

10.01.2022 When the monsters howl through your bones at night, when you daren’t be alone in silence for fear of their whining begging noise, for fear of feeling their claw...s scrape across your heart; have you ever stopped to think and feel? Have you ever stopped to realise that the monsters are not monsters; but parts of you, calling you to heal. Showing you where to bring kindness, where to put balm, where to forgive and how to grieve. They are revealing to you where you are being controlled. These beings in you may seem monstrous, as they were birthed from awful moments, coming into being through trauma, fear and loss. And then, instead of choosing healing, you took that part of you, the piece of yourself, to lock up in a dungeon deep in your soul, carrying on the torture, the hate and the denial; calling yourself ‘monsterous’ when all you really needed was to scoop yourself up. Show yourself love, rock that wounded fragment in the safety of your heart until that part of you is no longer monstrous, no longer raging with the lack of care, or howling in despair. But instead sleeping, healing and melting back into your being from being heard, seen, met and honoured. From being set free. ~ Brigit Anna McNeill https://m.facebook.com/anna.b.mcneill [Art: Chiara Bautista]

09.01.2022 We live in a sensory world both inside and outside of us. Our senses do not stop in the gateway you acknowledged them through. Smell doesn’t stop with your nost...rils, it is felt, it is held and remembered within the heart and body. A sound doesn’t just stop in the ears, it travels to the heart then over flesh and through bones. Touch doesn’t stop at your skin, it fills the heart, the knowing the wondering. Sight doesn’t stop with eyes, it is digested, pondered, tingled and tasted by the soul, our cells, our knowing. We are in a full body conversation with the earth, with our lives, and our bodies, always communing together. How well do you take notice, how often do you stop and feel into how the conversation makes you feel and what this tells you about the earth, your body, others, plants, trees, surroundings, your mind. So many have learnt to not take notice of what they sense, pick up, feel. Only taking notice on a surface level, like basic survival. They have taught themselves not to trust this inner and outer conversation. But what if everyone started to go deeper, letting the senses melt the concrete that covers the heart, the felt sense. Igniting the conversation older than words. Helping a person to understand better their surroundings and how they affect them, deep within their marrow. . 07.01.2022 "When the 5 elements in nature are out of balance they can wreak havoc." This is just as true for our internal nature as it is for the nature we observe outside ourselves.

07.01.2022 "Wherever you orient, you do it by using your senses. You feel into the world around you, and you allow your system the time it needs to notice that it is safe. You are safe. Our bodies are quite magical, and we all have an autonomic nervous system that feels into the environment. We also have complex brains and, within, we all have a little set of neurons, about the size of an almond, called the amygdala. This tiny almond is housed in the limbic system and it serves as our... alarm system. This amazing sensor lets us know when we are in trouble. It makes sure we step back when crossing the street if we hear a car coming toward us, or gets us ready to run if confronted by an attacker. It also helps gauge, along with the Polyvagal system, if someone feels friendly or if their tone of voice is threatening. You see, we need the amygdala, along with the nervous system, to keep ourselves safe, not just in threatening times, but on the daily. And, the language of the amygdala is the senses. By orienting, using our senses, we are able to notice safety and, by default, our nervous system begins to settle. We interrupt any sense of overwhelm and anxiety." See more

07.01.2022 Pieces You are made of a million pieces, each of them different but all of them necessary. For each piece holds a bit of your magic, each piece holds a thread o...f your story. And although the world is a beautiful place, there will be moments when your confidence will be shaken by another’s perception of what it means to be whole. But you must not put your worth in another persons arms. You take control of what it means to belong when you hold on to your own worth. You determine your own value when you consciously love every part of your self instead of being selective with what pieces to embrace. You are perfect as you are. Lean into yourself and honour your wholeness. Spread out your pieces and watch how beautifully they connect your centre inviting your edges, your outermost corners uniting with your deepest core. Each piece carries meaning and purpose all of them intentionally aligning to form your true essence, revealing the innermost magic that is you. You are a work of art, overflowing with so much beauty that it doesn’t matter who else sees it as long as you see it yourself. Come to peace with all of your pieces and you will show others how to do the same. - Bryan Anthony Art: Sue Tilley

06.01.2022 Sensory experience, when honored, renews the bond between our bodies and the breathing earth. Only a culture that disdains and dismisses the senses could neglec...t the living land as thoroughly as our culture neglects the land. If we continue to speak of other animals as less mysterious than ourselves, if we speak of the forests as insentient systems, and of rivers and winds as basically passive elements, then we deny our direct, visceral experience of those forces. And so we close down our senses, and come to live more and more in our heads. We seal our intelligence in on itself, and begin look out at the world only as spectators never as participants. If we really wish to awaken our senses, and so to renew the solidarity between ourselves and the rest of the earth, then we must acknowledge that the myriad things around us have their own active agency, their own active influence upon our lives and our thoughts (and also, of course, upon one another). We must begin to speak of the sensuous surroundings in the way that our breathing bodies really experience them as active, as animate, as alive. ~ David Abram [Art: Sandra M. Stanton]

04.01.2022 Which injuries resolve quickly and which persist depends on more than just the severity of the trauma. It also greatly depends on one's physical and emotional resources at the time of the injury and the support they receive and feel AFTER the injury.

04.01.2022 There will always be something to distract you from knowing yourself. To distract you from deep. Internal. Work. It’s them is a powerful way to point energy o...r attention to an outside entity. External external external external. Never internal internal internal internal. Never inward. Recalibration. Honing. Grounding. Strengthening. Softening. Hone. Deep. Into your purpose. Not to the reaction to the world around you. Hone deep into compassion. Into wholesome unconditional love. The world will be noisy........ the world will be noisy....... the internal world will feel noisy due to contamination from the external..... due to what we allow to influence our wellbeing. But eventually.... you will discover how composed your internal world would really be. Your home-base for soul soil. How durable. How strong. How fluid. How calm. How endlessly eternal your internal world would be. Embody the feeling. Ground the wholesome sensation deep into your DNA. Embody this way of discovered perception. Behave within alignment to your divine, composed, eternal, grounded, soul soil. Remove control or expectation to how the world should be. Become the world you wish to be. 03.01.2022 Where the head’s intelligence is exclusive, the body’s is inclusive. It feels wholeness, and its capacity for feeling the whole is its means of knowing the whole. The foundation of the body’s intelligence is its perfect understanding that it belongs to the world of the present. It recognizes kinship in the ocean’s waves exhaling along the shore, in the shifting sky, in the slender blade of grass, the scurrying ant, and in the tall tree so deeply rooted in the darkness of the earth. To reunite with the body’s intelligence is to find your being illuminated and clarified by all the particulars of the world around you; you feel how they belong to you and vice versa.
