20.01.2022 It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Bower Architecture co-directors Anna Dutton Lourie and Chema Bould are both graduates of breast cancer, and super passionate about encouraging everyone we know and love (you!) to check you breasts regularly. After 40 you can access free breast screening via your GP or @breastscreenvictoria. Make friends with these amazing machines for your mammogram and ultrasound!

10.01.2022 Hover House Mount Martha by night. Designing the lighting for our clients homes is an important part of the Bower process. We love hearing about the magic it creates when the sun goes down. It is frequently a welcome surprise for our clients as site visits during the build are always by day! Hover House acquired its name from the way it appears to hover over the site, particularly at night. 09.01.2022 The L shaped form of Coastal Court wraps around the corner site to frame the spectacular courtyard. The form of the home, with its falling roof shape mirroring the fall of the land, also frames views to the borrowed landscape of the fabulous treetops beyond the site. This striking home in the Victorian alpine regional town of Bright follows the form of the land, sloping down the steep pitch to frame views to the south. A distinctive pop up roof form gathers northern daylight into the centre of the house. Nick has been a key collaborator on all stages of the project from concept sketches to completion. This playful family home re-interprets the traditional ‘front-yard’ by flipping the standard private rear garden to the northern front street side, with a smaller, intimate courtyard to the rear. Central living areas connect these two outdoor spaces, allowing one to flow to another, joining the heart of the house with its surroundings.
