19.01.2022 Amazing article on why dogs need mental stimulation, enrichment activities and sniffing in their life!

13.01.2022 A great Article on why Nosework Is so great for all those Anxious and Reactive dogs out there!

11.01.2022 Why do dogs love K9 Nose Work Sniffing? Because that's what they were designed to do! Hunting would take up most of the day for wild dogs but in Domestic pets we hand them their food, contained in a bowl, in front of their face. Would it feel weird feeding a Lion in a bowl? Would it feel weird to give a bowl to a Cheetah? The bowl has become commonplace for the convenience and Mess Free qualities desired by Humans. Dogs have been mans best friend so long we have forgotten the...ir origins and expect them to be perfectly happy adhering to our way of life. This lack of mental stimulation has been linked to the rise in behavioral issues in dogs e.g intense anxiety, reactivity and destruction. But, back to the Nose! Humans have about 5 million cells devoted to smelling: while dogs are estimated to have over 220 million! Not only that, but dogs have nearly four times the brainpower devoted to processing odours. When we smell Cake a dog smells "milk, eggs, flour" Sniffing is also a drug rush! Because hunting in the wild is often very unsuccessful (you can see this from many david attenborough films), the brain adapted and made the act of hunting itself feel just as good as getting the prey. It does this by flooding the dogs mind with Dopamine (happy hormone!). You too have experienced this same feeling before. Do you remember hunting for Easter eggs? When you found one did you stop or excitedly continue hunting for more?
