The reduced order cycle will make the ordering process faster, more concentrated and more efficient for members You will have an extra day to decide whether or not to change your household size or suspend your order for the next week Our growers will have an extra day to figure out what theyre going to pick for us next week

22.01.2022 I love it when a hub member suggests something I don’t use much (or in this case not at all). Kohlrabi! Hoping it’s going to be one of our successful splits this week. I’m thinking of trying this kohlrabi and cabbage slaw - thanks #communitycookbook ... Yep, green cabbage is one of our splits too Box Divvy is such a great way to share produce and food ideas! #boxdivvychatswood #kohlrabi

22.01.2022 Variety is the spice of life and healthy guts. Research suggests that people who eat at least 30 different plant-based foods each week have more varied gut bacteria, and ultimately a healthier gut microbiome as a result. Mixing up the plant foods we eat exposes the body to different mixes of dietary fibre and key nutrients, which in turn plays a key role in maximising the types and quality of bacteria in the gut. Thirty different plant-based foods per week sounds like a lo...t, but its actually not that hard when you consider it includes grains, seeds, fruit, vegetables, nuts, dried beans and legumes. Its great that the low Box Divvy prices and community box sharing system make it easy for us to get the variety into our diet. #boxdivvy #boxsharing #unsupermarket #chatswoodmann #healthyliving

21.01.2022 Papaya and lime - a match made in heaven! Sprinkle some lime juice over sliced (room temperature) papaya - so good! #boxdivvychatswood #summerfruit #communityboxsharing

21.01.2022 We took advantage of the great berry prices this week, we have 60 punnets of blueberries and 75 punnets of strawberries on the way to us this morning! Thanks Box Divvy!!!! BLUEBERRIES $2.83... STRAWBERRIES $1.54 #boxdivvy #blueberry #strawberry #boxsharing

19.01.2022 VEGGIE MARKET UPDATE: * Asparagus around $1.80 a bunch * Green beans around $2.70/kg * JAP pumpkins less than $1/kg... * from Charlie Vella: - Cauliflowers $2.55 each - Iceberg lettuce $1.25 a head - Medium-sized Wombok $1.87 probably the last week before hes taking a break as the new patch wont be ready until Oct. - Silverbeet & Green Kale $1.47 a bunch * Charlie and his grand-daughter Charlie still have more zucchini flowers than they know what to sensibly do with. Feedback from some members who have bought them a few times suggests that they dont travel well once theyre out of the tray. So, to alleviate this issue, Charlie will be packing them 6-to-a-punnet. Whilst that means more plastic, it also means less food waste as the zucchini flowers will last much longer. He really wants you to try them out and is offering them at $3.40 a punnet. * Steve and Sam Grima will have fennel-with-frond for the next few weeks. They have a medium-sized bulb, and the long frond like a peacocks tail can be used for garnish or for pesto (the flavour is similar to dill). * Theyll also have celeriac adds flavour to your potato mash. Use a 50/50 mix of potato and celeriac. So much goodness in store for us!! #boxdivvy #seasonalvegetables #CommunityFoodHub

19.01.2022 Photo evidence of a members Monday night dinner before getting her fruit bowl and fridge replenished today - such loveliness and another members veggie curry dinner tonight that got the thumbs up from the kids! Nothing more satisfying than getting messages from hub members sharing their creations using their box divvy loot! ... #ilovemyboxdivvy #community #reducecarbonfootprint See more

19.01.2022 Shepherd’s mince pies !!!! Available for 3 weeks only

19.01.2022 Great news - Asparagus are here, so it must be spring! Asparagus announces the start of spring, and theyre a tad early although, spring officially starts September 1. The initial asparagus supply comes from Victoria, and its not until late September that the locals start picking. ... Did you know that at the height of the growing season, it can take just 24 hours for an asparagus spear to appear seemingly out of nowhere? What you dont see is the activity underground, with asparagus plants sending runners throughout the soil which almost at random will send asparagus spears to the surface. The early supply is a bit unruly: theyre not always straight, the heads can be a little loose, but theyre crisp and tender. And at around $2.75 for a bigger-than-normal bunch, theyre good value already and the season has barely started. (We saw them at Harris Farm for over $5 for a small bunch!) Im already planning to steam mine, then serve up as a starter wrapped in prosciutto. (Or wrap them in prosciutto and roast them - check out irenamacri.com and simplyrecipes) #boxdivvy #asparagus #springtime #boxsharing #localfarmers

19.01.2022 Box Divvy makes us feel good about the food we eat ! I hear so many comments from our hub members about how they are inspired to try different recipes with the range of amazing produce they get in the orders and how their fresh fruit & veg consumption has increased (with a decrease in processed snacks and meals). Through Box Divvy we are:... Supporting local farmers who do their best at using sustainable farming practices and minimising pesticides Minimising packaging and our carbon footprint Committed to creating healthy food communities Paying farmers fairly by buying direct and purchasing as a group which also means avoiding the big conglomerates and saving approximately 30% on produce Providing a safe way to do your fresh produce shopping - reducing time spent in busy shops Why wouldnt you Box Divvy? #boxdivvy #freshisbest #communityfoodhub #boxsharing #lessplastic #supportlocalfarmers #unsupermarket

18.01.2022 Did you end up with more broccoli than planned this week? The local broccoli from our Box Divvy farmers has been so delicious, and I was happy to try another great salad from the Community cookbook. Another winner . Instead of using frozen edamame beans I just used snow peas and some fresh peas that I had shelled and popped in the freezer a few weeks ago ... #communityboxsharing #boxdivvy #salads

18.01.2022 I finally got around to preserving the lemons Ive had in the fridge for weeks. So easy to do and youll be amazed how many recipes there are using preserved lemons. Check out Maggie Beers video online on how to preserve them and maybe we should be including more lemons in our order next week before the supply runs out. And I havent even started thinking about lemon curd yet!... To top it off, Box Divvy lemons are still a great price - $3.06/kg - compared to $7.99/kg online at HF (imperfect picks there are $4.49/kg). #boxdivvy #CommunityFoodHub #freshisbest #unsupermarket

16.01.2022 Two types of mangoes for us to choose from: Kensington Pride and R2E2 I’m putting both in my basket this week. Looking forward to giving the R2E2 mango a go as it’s always been the underdog in our house. ... Word is that they are lovely and sweet, but it’s essential that they are absolutely ripe before eating. #boxdivvychatswood #cutyourfoodbillinhalf #communityboxsharing #mango

15.01.2022 I've been wanting to share this recipe that a friend passed on years ago which is a winner and especially now that turmeric is available to us on the Box Divvy marketplace (supermarkets are charging around $40-45/kg but here at BD it is $15/kg). Everyone talks about the health benefits of turmeric so let's use it! THE BEST YELLOW CURRY! For 4 people use 4 tbs paste (see attached recipe).... Heat 3 tbs coconut cream in saucepan until it splits, add curry paste and cook slowly allowing flavored to heat through , add 80 g palm sugar , stir until dissolved, add about 2 tbs fish sauce, 1 can coconut milk and perhaps some chicken stock. Marinate 1 kg chicken thigh pieces in a tbs of of the paste, 1 tbs fish sauce, and some coconut cream. Chargrill chicken pieces on high until cooked through . Chop and add to sauce with any of following - chargrilled zucchini, eggplant, roasted sweet potato, peas, beans, broccoli (anything you have in your fridge!) I like doing this on a griddle pan or bbq as the grill lines look good! That's it! Serve with plenty of fresh coriander and steamed rice. Enjoy! #boxdivvy #yellowcurry #turmeric #boxsharing #freshfood

15.01.2022 Great idea, thanks Box Divvy Longueville-Kenneth!!

Have def been expanding my selection of produce too! #seasonalproduce #CommunityFoodHub #boxdivvy #supportlocalfarmers

13.01.2022 Totally love this!!

12.01.2022 Mid week cooking at the Chatswood hub - 3 members picked up their zucchini flowers yesterday and have already cooked them ......totally addicted I think!! One of our local farmers Charlie Vella is still picking them (with his granddaughters help) and theyre now packed in punnets of 6 to make sure they last longer as theyre so delicate. Theres still time to try them out - only $3.40/punnet! Family and friends will be impressed ... Stuffed with: Ricotta A bit of Parmesan A bit of Lemon zest Add cooked bacon or pancetta if you have any handy. Salt and pepper. Drizzle with a bit of olive oil and Bake until they look done!

12.01.2022 I agree! Their cucumbers are so fresh and tasty. They last for ages in the fridge

11.01.2022 A few members jumped on the tray bake bandwagon this week - Blood Orange Roast Chicken was our hubs shared recipe this week. Check out the pictures from their meals - totally delicious and officially a new favourite dish was the feedback! Hero of the dish came from... the boxes of blood oranges from Tuesdays delivery (psst check out Box Divvys price $2.58/kg cf Harris Farm $6.99/kg!!) http://www.notquitenigella.com//blood-orange-roast-chicken/ #community #bloodoranges #boxdivvy #sharingrecipes #boxsharing

11.01.2022 Thanks happy foodie for the link to Jamie Olivers Crumbed Pesto Fish. A great weeknight dinner thanks to my daughter Izzy - everything from our Box Divvy shop apart from the fish (Ling) we bought. 07.01.2022 Friday Fruit News: Australian Menindee grapes! Still a little pricey, around $12-$13 per kg, but give it a few weeks and they’ll be below $10. They look amazing though.... Earliqueen Plums! New season plums, aptly named Earliqueens. They’re early indeed - as a rule Box Divvy doesn’t touch plums until close to Christmas though exceptions are made from time to time and this Earliqueen is worth it. Peaches still suffering from Qld weather conditions () but lots of white and yellow nectarines, and apricots !! Mango prices are still forecast to drop further heading into December but haven’t they been tasting divine so far ? #summerfruit #communityboxsharing #boxdivvychatswood

07.01.2022 Love this! Thanks BD Cremorne Point - Kareela.

07.01.2022 We arent going to be short of local veggies this week!! VEGETABLE MARKET UPDATE: * Beans and peas continue to be super-cheap, with snowpeas dropping to $6.80/kg local supply from Kim and Laks at Golden Fields (did you notice they are $18/Kg in supermarkets)... * Golden Fields is also supplying us with Lebanese cucumber: expect to pay $2.60/kg. Only a month ago, we paid triple * More amazing value: Coriander: 91c a bunch. Baby buk choi: $1.13 a bunch. Great for a quick stir fry! English spinach: $1.36 a bunch. Both Field and Roma tomato supply has finally picked up, with prices dropping to just over $3/kg * Mushroom prices have also returned to normal and are now back under $11/kg * Charlie Vella in Freemans Reach has good rhubarb numbers: expect around $3.40 a bunch. * Charlie is picking kale, silverbeet, zucchini flowers (HUB FAVOURITE) and hopefully soon: zucchini. * Steve and Sam Grima continue picking Dutch carrots ($2 a bunch), fennel-with-frond ($1.25 each) and red radish ($1.59), great for a Spring salad * More great value this week: Pumpkin (pumpkin walnut and goats cheese cheese ) Asparagus Potatoes and onions My ideas for next week Include making a few jars of tomato chilli jam, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, my all-time favourite summer soup...Gazpacho (recipe will follow) and maybe more zucchini flowers !!! #boxdivvy #varyyourveggies #supportlocalfarmers #Seasonalfood #boxsharing

06.01.2022 Splits have started for us this morning. Ive got a few ideas for what I would like in my box but top of my list is: STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM Punnets of sweet strawberries are under $2 this week so lets enjoy them!! ... This no churn recipe looks great. https://www.recipetineats.com/strawberry-ice-cream-no-churn/ #communityboxsharing #boxdivvy #strawberries

05.01.2022 Eschalots - you may wonder what to use them for and why you would sometimes use them instead of brown onions? They are sweeter than brown onions and roast beautifully. Eschalots also appear in a lot of Ottolenghi’s recipes and Asian salads. I’ve made this baked rice recipe a lot and would LOVE to share it if you haven’t already discovered it. Brilliant side dish for fish/meat and so easy to prepare. ... I’m hoping eschalots will appear in our splits regularly over the summer , they’re so handy to have on hand (see recipe in earlier post for eg !) and the best thing is that they are at least half the price of eschalots in HF and local supermarkets. And.....they’re local - grown in Leppington! If stored in a cool dry place, they last for weeks and weeks so I’m never fussed about having them in my pantry as a staple. Thanks BD for the fresh ingredients (and the rice): Cherry or baby truss tomatoes Eschalots Coriander Garlic Thyme With the olive oil and the cinnamon sticks, that’s it!! #boxdivvychatswood #communityboxsharing #ottolenghisimple #ottolenghibakedrice

04.01.2022 Market News - plenty of supply coming our way this week and by eating loads of fresh fruits and veg, we are actually helping farmers shift a mountain of great produce. FRUIT * Kensington Pride mangoes are now starting to show up in good numbers and prices have dropped below $3/each. Theyre small well, around 3-4kg each so theyll fit in your fridge once you halve them, and theyre just $1.65/Kg. * Pear season is ending - the last Packham, Nashi and Corella pears to enjoy. Im excited about the start of the summer fruit - bring it on!! #boxdivvy #communityfood #boxsharing #summerfruit *thanks BD North Turramurra - Milton for the photo

04.01.2022 The presentation could have been better but my batch of Bill Grangers famous corn fritters were devoured before I could improve my plating up . Made so easy with all my Box Divvy produce at hand for the fresh ingredients - especially our local corn, tomatoes and avocados! https://www.recipetineats.com/bill-grangers-corn-fritters-/... #boxdivvy #freshveggies #billgrangercornfritters #CommunityFoodHub

04.01.2022 FRUIT NEWS!! * Berries galore, with strawberries enjoying one of the longest Qld seasons on record because of the continued mild weather in Caboolture and Bundaberg. Strawberries under $2 a punnet, and Blueberries under $3 a punnet!! * Passion fruit will continue a little longer, but will remain pricey as are mangoes for the next 2 weeks. Good news though - the forecast supply should still see mangoes selling between $1.50 and $2 each by the end of this month. Can't wait!... * Rockmelons for under $2 each * Ruby grapefruit this incredible source of vitamin C for around 70c each, or under $2/kg * Packham pears for just over $2/kg I'm still looking forward to more or those amazing pineapples we have been seeing from North Qld! 04.01.2022 Thanks to our sister hubs for the update on the new credit system.

03.01.2022 Note: Important dates for our hub. I’m relieved we won’t need to fight the crowds doing our fresh fruit and veg shopping before Xmas. I know we can’t avoid the shops completely but any bit helps! At Chatswood Box Divvy, we have worked as a group since April to share boxes of produce with prices roughly 30% less than online supermarkets. Lots of fun and a great community feel. ... BUY-SHARE-SAVE #communityboxsharing #boxdivvychatswood

03.01.2022 Wednesday night dinner - the last of the Ung familys beautifully sweet sugarsnap peas and some baby spinach in a prawn stir fry. Not much left of it now! We havent had sugarsnap peas in the Box Divvy marketplace for a couple of weeks but thats what eating seasonal produce is all about. It comes directly to us from our farmers! ... Until the Ung family have more to pick for us on their Wallacia farm in the Sydney Basin, we will just have to enjoy whatever else is in season for us from our suppliers. That isnt bad!! #ilovemyboxdivvy #communityboxsharing #freshisbest #seasonalfood

03.01.2022 Look at that price difference! Glad we have got turmeric in our splits this week! Great box sharing
