04.01.2022 Happy Chinese Dragon Boat Festival for everyone! Just want to give you a little bit of history about the Dragon Boat Festival. This Chinese festival is to commemorate the death of the poet & minister Qu Yuan of the ancient state of Chu during the Warring States period of the Zhou Dynasty. There are three most widespread activities conducted during this festival. People are eating zongzi, drinking realgar wine and racing dragon boats. Other common activities include hanging up... icons of Zhong Kui, hanging mugwort & calamus, taking long walks, and wearing perfumed medicine bags. Some other traditional activities include a game of making an egg stand at noon and writing spells. All of these activities were regarded by the ancients as an effective way in preventing disease or evil, while promoting health and well-being. Overall, I reckon the dragon boat racing is the most exciting activity that most people will enjoy during this festival. See more
