20.01.2022 So weve been lucky enough to have some much needed rain recently. You might notice some cracks in your concrete outside appearing or disappearing, and wonder what you should be doing about them. In most cases, if the cracks are outside, you can just monitor them and only act when they become a trip hazard. Cracks inside your house, however, are more serious and need to be inspected as they may provide an entry point for termites. Call us today if youd like us to have a look for you.

17.01.2022 Solar Panel Maintenance! This roof was over 40 years old and in otherwise perfect condition. The problem here is caused by rain water running across the solar panel, across the Aluminium and onto the galvanised roof. Solar Panels will only be a saving to you if maintenance is carried out! This is an example of how important it is for an inspector to not only be able to identify an issue in an inspection, but have the expertise to identify how the problem arose in the first place, and also explain it to the customer so you know what action to take!

17.01.2022 If you arent familiar with Pool Safety Laws in Queensland you might feel a little better knowing that there is a free online Pool Compliance Checklist tool developed by the QBCC to help you work out whether your pool fence is compliant! At BPP Inspections we recommend all of our customers look at this and also the Queensland Development code on Pool Safety Barriers before your inspection. That way you are more likely to be Compliant on the first inspection, meaning we can i...ssue you your pool safety certificate without the need for a re inspection fee! 17.01.2022 Spend a minute and watch this. Difficult to film, hold torch, and climb across an active termite ceiling, so apologies there. BUT ......... there is soooo much to learn. This is easily avoidable. Whilst your watching. Think about your or your friends house, owned or purchasing. TAG them in the video. Previous recent termite inspections done on this building were highly unlikely to have complied with Australian Standards. But regardless, none of the advice in that report was ...taken. This building is either a write off or a very unwelcome financial surprise. The extent of damage here would be phenomenal. A house is an investment so treat it accordingly and look after it. Get a good inspection from a keen inspector and take at least some of the advice. Oh - And the internal inspection of the rooms below showed not 1 indication to the severity of this. Just finished renovations incl new paint, carpets and kitchen. So a visual walk through inspection that saved you 50 or 100 bucks would now see you owning this. I didnt have to access this ceiling according to Australian standards due to the plastic. So a recommendation would have been made to improve access. But I did access it. Because thats what I do. From previous experience these recommendations are rarely taken. TERMITE INSPECTIONS INVOLVE MORE THAN LOOKING AT YOUR WEEPHOLES.

15.01.2022 Good on you Mick and Simon. Your plastering still looks great. Held up well for 67 years. Handmade sheets, on site with plaster, hessian and hemp. Moulds lathered in pigs fat even to make the cornice. Notice the plaster bandage holding them up. Old school trade skills. Sadly will probably go the way of a set of units one day soon. ... Units which will have probably have plastering defects from day one. 09.01.2022 To be a great residential building and pest inspector, you need lots of experience building many types of homes so that you have a deep understanding of different construction methods and materials, across a range of different time periods. It is only through this process that you can learn where problems may start, how to spot them and recommend how to solve them! Heres a photo of Steve hard at work building a heritage style queenslander, which he also designed.

08.01.2022 Here is an excerpt from a couple of our reports. Not only have we recognised a problem, but understand how to solve it. Also giving examples of recommended methods or repair as per our experience. So then you can either solve this problem yourself or contact the recommended trades with photographic information.

08.01.2022 Can you pick the problem with this roof? One bonus of being a small company is that we can be flexible and are able to go where other companies may choose not to, including the roof. Thats extremely lucky for one of our customers this week, as other companies may have missed this major defect on the roof, which could have cost our customer dearly! Because it was picked up in the inspection, they are now able to either have it rectified, or negotiate settlement with the owner. Things like this dont get picked up by inspection companies who dont take the time to do a thorough inspection, because they may be churning out many cheap inspections per day. Call us and we will make sure we do everything we can to find things that others cant!

07.01.2022 We are having such lovely weather in the great south east recently, however it has been pretty dry. Termites are looking for other sources of moisture, and therefore cant resist seeking it out in your house - its a matter of survival! If you want to do your own basic termite inspection, walk around your house and look closely where the building meets the ground, this area should be visible and clear of all signs of dirt build up. 07.01.2022 Inspection today. No visible damage, no higher than normal moisture readings. To small and early for thermal camera. Mini was all over it though. Very early stage termite detection. Happy to see results from all the training efforts. See other video of the termatrac confirmation.

02.01.2022 Demonstration of the termatrac radar to confirm movement and termite presence. Termite activity is displayed on the radar screen. This is the area MINI the termite dog lead us to which is why further investigation was done. Very encouraging dog results, during a pre purchase scenario this would save you thousands just in treatment alone.
