About the role This role is based around providing a portion of "two to one - 24hour, 7 day" care and support to a client with intellectual disability and behavioural issues, who lives in suburban Illawarra area residential accommodation. The ...successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of the clients daily living routine which can range from personal care and domestic assistance to community access and social support which will require the following: Supporting the client to make decisions and have choices Supporting the client to identify and achieve goals Promoting independence and independent living skills Implementing and maintaining the behavioural support plan Assisting with appointments and transport needs Engaging the client within the community Assisting with any personal care necessary Monitoring the administration of medication Requirements To be successful in this role you must have the following: 3+ years paid experience as a disability support worker experience implementing behavioural support plans Minimum cert IV in Disability or similar qualification in related field Valid Working with Children’s Check Be willing to undergo a Police check Valid First Aid and CPR certificate Mental Health qualification and experience Drivers Licence, car and comprehensive car Insurance Benefits Stable, regular shift pattern Standard hourly rate of $31 (+ increased rate for evening, weekend and public holidays) + Super Make a difference to the life of an individual living with a disability Feel like this is the role for you then click apply now and we will be in touch! Brain Awareness Week is a global campaign from the 15th to the 21st of March 2021, to spread awareness and foster enthusiasm and support for brain science. Supporting brain science can help progress research, and assist medical professionals in diagnosis, prevention and treatment of brain disorders. ... Research of brain disorders can help us understand the issues that people living with brain injury/ disorder related disabilities experience and assist us in developing and implementing supports that can improve the daily living of people with brain injuries and disorders. 08.01.2022 Over the last few years while working with people with disabilities, I continue to wonder at their strength, courage and ability to do everything the able bodie...d can do. What they need is opportunity, support and solidarity. This documentary project that we have the privilege to be working on is no different. ONE BUCKET LIST (Working title) For over a decade, Yvette Smith was upset because she believed that nothing but negativity and health issues were going to consume her life. She was crying hard when Julie Alison of Bradannii asked what her ultimate goal was. Yvette’s answer was, ‘I WANT TO DIVE!!’ Julie then approached me as the only person she knew who dives and along with my producer Kirstie Boerst, she told us Yvette's story. After a couple of meetings, I decided that Yvette needed to meet Bob Staddon, an accomplished scuba diver with a disability, so she would have a role model of what it meant to be a diver with a disability. Little did we know that Bob was also a Bloke Who Knows a Bloke with a heart of gold and was already pulling significant strings together to make Yvette's dream come true even before we met In 2019, we all met for the very first time. Bob presented Yvette with an opportunity of a lifetime A fully customized wetsuit by Neptune Sports and Sharkskin, and a full RAID #AdaptiveOpenWater20 by Dive Newcastle. At the end of that meeting, Yvette was on her path to her ultimate goal. We were all blown away by this act of kindness and generosity. A year after our first conversation, through so many challenges including bushfires then storms then COVID, we finally started the course over two locations; Swansea Swimming pool & Charlestown Swimming pool. In her own words, Yvette said, ’’The weekend showed me what accomplishing something felt like; to be doing something outside of my health worries and care worries’’ As a Dive Master in training and a documentary filmmaker, I felt blessed to be able to work alongside instructor Peter Ward and the whole dive team, who gave their time and expertise generously. We are excited for the next few weeks to finally take Yvette to our happy place, the ocean. 03.01.2022 ONE BUCKET LIST - DOCO (Working Title) PRODUCTION JOURNAL #2 Day 4: RAID Adaptive Open Water 20, first open water dive. Today the limelight is on the Bradannii ...team, Julie Allison, Marry Ann and Nicole. They are the land based dive team which is as important as the dive buddies. Looking back to the year 2019, if Julie didn't respond to Yvette's HUGE ultimate goal, all this would never happen. The journey to today has been a testament to Julie and her team at Bradannii, They do put their client's interest at heart and do whatever it takes to help their client live their best life. I am very impressed by Mary Ann and Nicole on this diving weekend both in the pool and in the ocean. How they looked after Yvette and working with the dive buddies. They really are an angel. I would not hesitate to recommend Bradannii for anyone with a disability who is looking for a professional care and an opportunity to reach their potential All these greatness won't be possible without the generosity of Neptune Sports, Sharkskin Australia, Dive Newcastle and Bob Staddon who pulled everything together.
