24.01.2022 Here is our virtual tour of our preschool! Creating a whole centre approach.
22.01.2022 Look at the differences between a typical preschool childs hand (left) and a typical 7 year old hand (right). Want to know why a preschool aged child isnt a...ble to write yet? This is why! Their hands are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing balls, etc. . All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready. via @Raisingherbarefoot

19.01.2022 Welcome Back for Term 4 Here is a quick virtual tour of our new outdoor learning space, we are so excited to explore and engage in. Our challenge isn’t so much to teach children about natural world, but to find ways to sustain the instinctive connections they already carry ~ Terry Krautwurst
19.01.2022 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. You dont have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says theyre not OK. We are here at Bradbury preschool if you ever need to talk or need help.

14.01.2022 Due to extensive decay and therefore a safety risk to our children and families, unfortunately last week we had to remove most of the large branches from our beautiful big old stringy bark tree in our yard. This tree has played and important part in our environment by not only providing shelter and shade but it has also been a fabulous opportunity for our children to observe several species of birds building their nests and raising their young over the years. It was a very sa...d day when we had to say goodbye to most of our beautiful tree but, as they say, every cloud has a silver lining! Our big old stringy bark was hiding a very special secret! A native bee hive!! Now, finding a native bee hive in Sydney is pretty rare and special in itself, but to find one oozing with native honey (sugar bag) is an incredible find! Unfortunately the branch it was in was one of the ones that had to come down, but we have preserved parts of the hive to mount close to the host tree. A small section was unfortunately split during the exercise but we were able to share our find with the children and explore the inner workings of the hive and taste some delicious native bee honey! We already have an existing hive so our children have the wonderful opportunity to explore and investigate not one but two native bee colonies! All in our own backyard! And dont worry, our stringy bark has a new purpose in life! It will remain in situ as a habitat tree, with forks in branches and lots of new hollows along with new shoots soon to come, the old tree will provide the perfect home for a wide range of birds, animals and insects. We may miss our big old tree but we love our new habitat tree and cannot wait to see who moves in! See more

08.01.2022 In this together is now resonating in ways we could not have foreseen when we announced it last year, but it reminds us whether in a crisis or in reconciliation we are all in this together. Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures. https://nrw.reconciliation.org.au//05/21/in-concert-toget/

05.01.2022 There is no need for your child (under 7) to be learning numbers, colours and how to write their name. In fact, if you force it - it could have negative impacts.... Literacy and numeracy is a wonderful thing for the brain, but it doesn’t really meet the needs of a 2-7 year old child... So what do they need instead? Nathan Wallis helps us understand what the latest research says about young children's brains and literacy, numeracy, free-play and child-led environments here: https://parenttv.com//why-your-child-needs-a-positive-dis/
