18.01.2022 It's been a mixed bag this week! Multiple timing belts, coolant leaks, a leaky fuel tank & some fun diagnostics thrown in amongst general #carservices. A great week for Danah, who very enthusiastically spent the week with us for #workexperience. Despite missing out last year due to all the Covid lockdowns, Danah & her gorgeous Mum Kathy contacted us during the Christmas holidays to see if Danah could spend the week during her holidays with us. ( How keen is that!! - and ...we will never say to no to any young lady who wants to learn mechanics - #womeninautomotive ) This is 3 generations of #mechanics - Our Master tech - Jordy Mitchell , Genevieve - our apprentice and Danah - our very enthusiastic work experience lass. 15.01.2022 With us all in lockdown, nature is stepping up and stepping out - from stingrays and turtles in the canals of Vienna to baby turtle hatching on beaches. Don't let this be your car - remember to run it up to temperature and move it to keep your car happy. And yes, if it due for it's service - don't leave it past it's due month or kms to avoid potential issues. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

08.01.2022 COVID-19 AND YOUR CAR'S SERVICE OR CAR REPAIRS We understand that many people are concerned about the use of public transport and are now relying on their cars more than they normally would. We are still working to our highest standards with additional measure taken to ensure both our staff and customers are as safe as possible from cross contamination. And an added bonus - it turns out the hand cleaner we use (Worx hand cleaner) contains Juniper Berry Eassential Oil... which has anti-viral properties ( how cool). So, if we don't shake your hand or spray your keys with tea tree oil before we take them from you - it's because we are very aware that we are in and out of many customer's cars and it would be so easy to cross contaminate a customer's car - hence a customer or their family. Finally, we are still offering our popular Pick Up & Drop Off Car Service and for those of you who are struggling financially due to the Virus, please remember that we offer GoPay as an alternative. ( This splits your bill into 3 equal monthly payments with no fees) #safecarservice #covid19andyourcarservice #stickingtogether

08.01.2022 Yes, it's a day late... but if you are a Shebah, Uber driver or you need to transport people in your car, here's same handy tips on keeping your car as Corona Virus free as possible. #disinfectyourcar #covid19 #carservicebraeside

08.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE - STAGE 4 RESTRICTIONS & YOUR CAR'S MAINTENANCE. To our wonderful customers, We've had many questions regarding the Stage 4 restrictions and their car's regular servicing needs. Under the government's & #VACC's guidelines we are only able to offer servicing to our customer's cars if they are 'essential and critical repairs, servicing and maintenance' . Yes, that is a bit vague, so I will try and clarify some of the points If your car is due for it's regul...ar service and it's running fine - then no, we're not allowed to service your car. If your car is squealing brakes or vibrating badly when you brake or your car is leaking any kind of fluid for example , then yes, we can perform these repairs, BUT if you live outside the 5km radius from us, then no - you must take it to a mechanic within that area. Please please do not hesitate to call us if your car starts doing strange things, making strange sounds or leaking strange fluids - don't keep driving it if you feel unsafe. And for the love of your car - if any of dash lights come on - give us a call on 9587 9619. #staysafe #braesidemechanic #womeninautomotive #stage4LockdownMechanic #ladytradies

08.01.2022 Yay! Yes, we are back and YES we can service and maintain your cars - thank goodness! ( we've been missing you all too). We will continue to follow all the guidelines outlined by the government & #VACC in regards to Covid-19 to ensure that we keep you and ourselves safe. Keep an eye out, we'll be posting some of the urgent & essential repairs that kept us busy ( and why I've been so quiet on here) ... #covid19CarService #maintainyourcar #womeninautomotive #womenmechanics #braesidemechanic See more

06.01.2022 We sort all sorts at Braeside Automotive and this beautiful '79 Corvette was one fun fix! Came in with leaky brakes ( not good) , handbrake cable stretched and unworkable and she was temperamental with starting and idling. Oh and her eyes winked ( only one headlight popped up). All sorted and a very happy customer ( couldn't get her in front of the camera :-)) #CorvetteBrakeRepair #CorvetteMechanic #Leakybrakes #braesidemechanic

04.01.2022 Your CAR BATTERY is the life force of your car & generally live 3-5years, but there are some things that you can do to preserve your #carbattery as part of your #carmaintenance. Visually check battery terminals for corrosion ( see pic ). If you see any corrosion the simplest fix is to pour boiling water over the terminals to wash off the corrosion Now that you can see the terminals - check for rust . If there is rust around the terminals this can lead to poor connectivity ...between your alternator, battery & your car. Grab a WIRE BRUSH & give it a quick clean. Make sure that your #carbattery is snug & secure - having a battery bouncing around when driving does not just risk damaging the battery but components in your car. Now that you have a secure, healthy battery here are some tips on maintaining the life of your #carbattery during the cold months. Your car has many components that rely on your #carbattery for power & if your battery is undercharged they may not function correctly or at all & lead to your car's CHECK ENGINE LIGHT coming on. There are a few simple things that you can do to lighten the load on your #carbattery on start up. - turn off your headlights, heater & other accessories eg car chargers, seat heaters ( luxury), before you start your car.
