24.01.2022 $5 or $10 per month isn’t a lot but it means that people get the same opportunities to read the books you love.

24.01.2022 Do you have a story that Australian’s should hear. The ABC wants to hear stories from Australians that have a disability to ensure that they are representative of the community.

24.01.2022 Queenslanders who are blind or have low vision are now able to apply for a Disability Parking Permit. You can apply or get more information from this link: https://www.qld.gov.au//travel-tra/driving/parking-permits... This means that you will be able to access disability parking spaces and have a much safer experience and be able to access local services easier. Fines are also doubling for illegal parking in a disability parking space from $266 to $533 to ensure parking spots are there for the people who really need them. #MoreAccessibleQLD #VisionLoss #Accessible #Safer #DisabilityParking #disabilityawareness

22.01.2022 The COVID has closed Bookshop 507 to the public (since March 2020) with reopening not in sight. So with many people in our community not able to access books, Bookshop 507 is asking you to help us change that. Gift a Book is an initiative where your donations enable us to donate books, on your behalf, to people in need of reading material. Every $5 you donate gifts a book.... We are starting this initiative with people in aged care and retirement facilities as many of these people are in isolation due to COVID-19 and Bookshop 507 needs your help to let them know that they are not alone. Whether you are a business or an individual, you can get books in the hands of people who need them by donating today. Well do the rest! You can even set up a CrowdRaiser and get your family and friends to support you. All you have to do is click on the link below and enter your details - you can then share this with all your friends and family so they can support you.https://www.givenow.com.au/giftabook

Why do we celebrate International Literacy Day?... The International Literacy Day is celebrated to encourage awareness towards literacy so that people from around the globe can know their social and individual rights. Literacy is considered to be a necessity for social and personal development. According to United Nations, globally, at least 773 million adults and youths still cannot read and write, while 617 million children and adolescents are not achieving minimum proficiency levels in reading. 06.01.2022 What a difference $1 can make! A new $1 coin issued in Australia is a world first it is a donation dollar. The Royal Australian Mint is making 25 million $1 coins that bear the words Donation Dollar which are designed to be donated to charity after 57% of Australians said they would do exactly that if they found one in their coin purse or wallet.... The first batch of Donation Dollar $1 coins are being issued to coincide with the United Nations International Day of Charity on 5 September. Every one of these coins is a chance to spark new conversations about generosity, CCA chair Tim Costello said. It might be a small coin, but it will circulate as a constant reminder to give, and that can make a big difference. We are hoping people will ask questions like who are you giving your donation dollar to, which charities do you already support, is it time to give a little more? Three in five Australians would be likely to give a Donation Dollar to charity if they received one in their change, a recent study found. More than 80% of Australians have donated something in the past year, but 70% admitted they often forgot or lacked time to do so. The below video has more information about the new $1. #donate #charities #giveback2020 #1dollar #donateyourchange #braille #Library #Thankyou #donationdollar
