Berwell Farm Airbnb is offering services to locals only. And Stalkers Bend Store is operating on reduced weekend hours for the duration. Also, the Post Office is now closed on Saturdays until further notice. 03.01.2022 Have your say folks. What do you want from the council for the shire into the future.

02.01.2022 The last photo showed the doors of the Junction Hotel at Branxholme. The main photo below shows the hotel as it was when I was in Branxholme in mid-January this... year. It dates back to 1882 when William Gough Jr first opened the doors. He and his wife Agnes Begg operated the hotel and raised eight children. In 1886, William transferred the licence to John Gough in order to take up farming, but in 1889, Agnes took up the licence again. The b&w photo shows the family and a housemaid at the back of the Junction Hotel c1900. The Gough family had a long involvement in the hotel business in Branxholme from the 1850s when William Gough Snr leased the Travellers' Rest from Thomas Best. He later operated the Branxholme Hotel which was operated by another two generations of the family until 1918. Members of the Gough family are buried in the Branxholme Cemetery and the photos below show the graves of William Snr and Mary Ann Gough and their children, and William Jr and Agnes Gough and their son Thomas Begg Gough. 02.01.2022 Good news. Berwell Farm has reopened to bookings, so if you know of anyone who wants to use Branxholme as their accommodation base while exploring the region, check them out! https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/33167140
