23.01.2022 This year the club introduced 3 new awards to be presented The Dennis Morton Memorial Bowling Award for the person who takes the most wickets in the regular season. This was presented by Peter McFarlane, who broke Dennis' record for most club wickets this year to Paul Aikman who took 31 wickets in the home and away season... The Anthony Grundell Award for the person with the most runs in the regular season This was presented by Wayne Lillingston (2nd on our all time run list) to Thomas Thekkumury who made 692 runs for the season The Spirit of Cricket Award which was presented by Ian Lillingston to Ryan Aikman, for the care and compassion he showed on the field in our Round 7 game against North Ballarat

Jean was a great supporter of our club, and was particularly well known for her fantastic afternoon teas for the players. The club sends its condolences to life member and club legend David (Mumpy) Wallis, David’s wife Therese and their daughters Jess, Maddi and Bec on the passing of their mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. 12.01.2022 WOOLWORTHS BLASTER PROGRAMS (U/10s and Junior Blasters) Late yesterday the Ballarat Cricket Association and clubs received notification from Cricket Victoria that recommended to delay the start of the Woolworths Cricket Blast Programs until at least February 6 2021. For Ballarat-Redan that incorporates both the Junior Blasters and new U/10 mid-week competition which replaces Master Blasters in Ballarat. ... Cricket Victoria advised: Current restrictions in place across Metro/Regional Victoria state that we can’t move to the Final Step in the State Government roadmap until we have no new cases for 14 days across Victoria. While this is currently hoped to occur by mid-late November it is expected that restrictions will continue to ease as each month passes. We believe pushing your program start dates to the 6th of February will allow you to plan your program with more certainty including running your programs in a COVID-Safe environment, greater access to the facility and with group sizes of 50+ at any one time As a club, we will align with Cricket Victoria’s recommendations and at this stage plan to start the Junior Blaster Program in early February 2021 for an 8 week period. The Junior Blaster registration link will be created in early November. BRCC will participate in the U/10 competition as soon the BCA advise the matches will commence. The club will notify you of changes as soon as they are advised by Cricket Victoria and/or BCA. Please note: these restrictions are in place as per the Victorian Government’s COVID-19 recommendations, which the club and association must adhere to. We know and understand there are a number of young people eager to play cricket, however our first priority is, and will always be the safety and wellbeing of all club members. This gear will most likely be raffled by the club throughout the coming season. The bats sell for around $400 - $500, the batting pads are worth about $100 - $150 and the batting gloves are around $80. 11.01.2022 Good Afternoon Folks, As per the email I sent out today. As some of you may have seen the Ballarat Cricket Association (BCA) has announced it intends to start the 2020/2021 cricket season for both seniors and juniors on Friday 16 October 2020 (juniors) and Saturday 17 October (all senior grades). ... Over the coming week a number of emails will come from the club, it is critical you read them, they will provide a lot of information about safely returning to play whilst adhering to COVID-19 restrictions. It is the expectation of the club all players, volunteers, members and spectators adhere to all rules and regulations. There are still a number of mandatory measures the Victorian Government has in place the club will be expected to comply with. Cricket Victoria and the BCA will also provide direction and critical information in the coming weeks which will ensure the season can get underway as soon as possible The committee is working hard behind the scenes to ensure COVID safe measures are put in place prior to the commencement of the season. Senior training will commence next week and information will be provided for junior training early next week. Exact details of training sessions and how they will operate will be provided as soon as it becomes available. I understand the uncertainty and delays will cause frustration for some, please be patient with the committee, we are attending many seminars and information sessions to ensure compliance with mandatory requirements, whilst preparing a safe environment for all 20 teams to play and train, the health and safety of all our members is our number one priority. We will ensure information is made available to everyone via email and where practical Facebook. REGISTRATIONS are now open online. The club recommends all seniors and juniors (except U/11s and girls) make a part payment, whilst a full cricket season is anticipated it is uncertain what will happen moving forward. Once it becomes clear a full season will be held payment of outstanding fees will be required. Again, the committee will provide direction later in the year. No physical registration day has been set, again direction will be provided by the BCA on this. We thank you for your patience and understanding, this season will be like no other. 07.01.2022 JUNIOR CRICKET UPDATE A junior committee has been established, and planning has commenced for the 2020/2021 junior season. As you can appreciate this season will be a lot different to other seasons, the committee will meet on a regular basis to ensure the season operates as smoothly as it can whilst ensuring the strict COVID-19 protocols are implemented and adhered to. As previously stated, ALL persons will be expected to adhere to the protocols. COVID-19 Safe plans are bein...g finalised in preparation for the commencement of training which will occur in the week beginning Monday 5 October 2020. Specific training nights for each grade will be finalised next week. Those details and instructions on how to book to attend training sessions and final COVID-19 Safe plans will be sent to everyone once completed. It is important to note under the current restrictions training can only occur in groups of 10 plus supporting coaches; parents, guardians, carers etc. and siblings are not permitted to remain at the ground for these sessions. The BCA has proposed the following season commencement dates as follows: (please note the date changes to the girls competitions) U/13 - Friday 16 October 2020 U/15 - Saturday 17 October 2020 U/17 - Saturday 17 October 2020 U/17 Girls - Tuesday 20 October 2020 U/14 Girls - Friday 23 October 2020 U/11 - Wednesday 28 October 2020 U/10 - Wednesday 28 October (previously Master Blasters) Registrations are currently open online. Registrations help us finalise teams, however if you're experiencing difficulties which are preventing you from registering online please make contact as soon as possible. Register here BRCC Season 2020/2021 registrations. U/10 registrations will be live after Tuesday 29 September. The club is working through the details of the Junior Blaster program, information will be provided as soon as it's available, registrations for the program are not currently available. Seniors will train tonight as normal - all players training must sign in via the QR code. U13's and U14 girls will resume games on Friday night Juniors will resume training next week at normal times

01.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we inform you all that Denis 'Frank' Morton passed away this morning after a short illness. Denis was the previous club wickets record holder prior to Pete McFarlane breaking his record earlier this season. He was a true club legend, life member and a great bloke. The committee, players, life members, members and associates of the Ballarat-Redan Cricket Club send our condolences to Denis's family at this sad time. May he Rest In Peace.
