18.01.2022 Did you know that people with disability are 40% more likely to be self-employed? Earlier this year, breakthru had an amazing opportunity to support the first national study of entrepreneurs with disability. Our life skills class spent the morning being productive at the local library reading great classics, creating bookmarks and undertaking budgeting exercises for Christmas. The day ended with a nice walk through the Halloran’s Hills forest, where there was a cool breeze to enjoy. What is your favourite novel or author and why? Let us know in the comments below.

If you've ever been ice skating you'll know it's pretty tricky at the beginning, but Ethan and Alec came up with a clever way to help each other glide around the arena with ease. 08.01.2022 As our scheduled chef was away last week, we had Linda step in to create a beautiful dinner consisting of spaghetti bolognese and cheesy garlic bread. To make the dining experience more mindful and enjoyable we started setting the table and designing our own folded napkins. As we sat down to eat we were serenaded by Italian tunes playing in the background and surrounded by great company!

07.01.2022 55,000 Victorian students with disability will get extra support in the upcoming state budget, as part of The Disability Inclusion package worth $1.6 billion. The package will also create up to 1,730 jobs across Victoria by 2025, making a real difference for both local schools and students with a disability. A very welcome addition to the budget!

03.01.2022 Meet our wonderful, vibrant and fun-loving customer Shano. Shano was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia at the age of 13, with doctors telling her there was no cure and nothing she could do to improve her condition. Not one to be discouraged, Shano fought with her doctors for years and wouldn't take no for an answer. She's now an accomplished horseback rider, book author and advocate for people with disability.
