25.01.2022 It's been exactly a year since we started designing Breathe. And what a year it has been. We've filled the 110sqm space with passion, love, kindness and hard work. Nearly 500 people have walked through these doors, and a few doggies too. ... The best experience for us? Being able to make a difference to so many people's lives and letting them touch ours. The biggest lesson we've learnt? Staying true to who we are, and letting our personality shine through. And our vision for the future? To provide people with a happy and welcoming space for healing and connecting. #vision #journeyoflife #jounreytowellness #goals #lifelessons #physiotherapy #physio #brisbanephysio #pilates #community #therapydog #gsd #innovation #creativity #determination #values #valuesmatter #inspiration #energised #dream

15.01.2022 Jackie plays competitive badminton Following a long hiatus, his muscles were really sore after the first time he got back onto the court. Like Jackie, many of us have experienced DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) after exercising. Do you know how to manage it? Here are the 5 top tips (tried and tested) on how to manage DOMS. 1. Contrast baths - Submerge yourself in warm water (35-45C) for 2-3 mins then immediately go into cold water of (10-15C). Repeat this for 15-...20 minutes. Make sure you finish with cold bath. 2. Massage - Massage each muscle group that have been worked for 5-10min each. The @ptpfit Ice Stick is great for this purpose (and it's cold too so ticks two boxes!) Also, if you have a massage gun such as the @therabody_au that works wonders too. 3. Compression garment - aim to keep tight compression garments on for 24 hours immediately after exercise 4. Nutrition - Ingest a combination of carbohydrates (50g) and protein (10g) ideally in the first hour after exercise. 5. Sleep - The amount of sleep needed for each person will be different but aim for 6 to 8 hours of sleep for optimal recovery. Was this helpful? 07.01.2022 Attention gym junkies! What if I told you that strength training can improve your range of motion? We've been taught that if the muscles in our body was tight or stiff, stretch it out. However recent researchhas found strength training is just as effective as stretching in generating improvements in range of motion (ROM). Strength training has additional benefits of:... improving muscle mass increasing bone density decreasing risk of injury decreasing risk of falls increasing gait speed But if you're recovering from an injury, the variables of strength training for improving ROM (how heavy, how many sets and reps, and which exercises) should still be appropriately progressed and prescribed under a physiotherapist. Want our help to get you back to your optimal self? Drop us a DM.
