25.01.2022 The first trials for juveniles in Sydney this season took place at Randwick on Tuesday morning with two heats over 735m and both were won by the progeny of first season sires and trained by Lee Curtis. The quickest of the two heats was won by Extreme Choice filly Avaricious, who showed speed from a wide gate to lead and when asked to keep going by Jay Ford got clear of her rival Maurice’s Medad to win by a length and a half in 43.36 seconds. 20.01.2022 A unique chapter in Australian thoroughbred industry history was brought to a close on Wednesday, December 16 when five-time Group 1 winner and proven Group 1 sire Danewin was humanely euthanized at Emirates Park, Murrurundi his home for close on 25 years. In 2014, on a trip to the Hunter Valley touring the studs, my children and I were lucky enough to meet Danewin on a day when his trainer Bob Thomsen had come to visit and it was a memorable experience for us all. 17.01.2022 Special Kolt - a Limited Edition - Charismatic black Lonhro stallion Kementari was a Group I star on the track for Godolphin and there was huge expectation when ‘Special K’ retired to Darley last spring, but as is sadly sometimes the case things did not go according to plan. Kementari was set to cover a full book of quality mares at a fee of $33,000 and Godolphin had sold breeding rights in him to some of the best breeders in the land, but sadly for his fans Kementari proved ...all but infertile. It is with great disappointment, we announce Loving Gaby is set to miss the spring carnival. She has heat an inflammation to a near fore limb that has forced us to end her preparation prematurely.... The decision has been made to retire her. It is deeply disappointing for her owners Phoenix Thoroughbreds, the team at home and her fans. Earlier this month, Julie Harris and her team had to go through a harrowing experience with blue-blooded Redoute’s Choice mare Antique Rose. Owned by Bob and Sandra Peters, Antique Rose was a full sister to their star producers Broadway Belle and Arcadia, who are the dams of Group I winners Regal Power and Arcadia Queen.... Arcadia Rose was in foal to their sire Pierro, so she was carrying a full sibling in blood to that dynamic duo.
