03.01.2022 FIRST DRINKS AT THE NEW BREMER BREWERY After three an a half years, the Bremer Bay Brewery has opened if only for four days! While the wind has been taken out ...of the sails a bit for the owners, who opened the bar on Thursday night only to close on Sunday, there's still work in place to keep the new local beer flowing as takeaway in the mean time. Owner Zane Mitchell said it's a surreal feeling to have the lifelong dream complete and ready to run once things are back to normal. "We've pretty much built the whole thing, from the earthworks all the way through, the concrete, stood the building up. Everything has been done locally," he said. "We hope it provides a new reason for tourists to visit Bremer Bay and the region, in this special place we live in. "Something I saw in America which was impressive was how breweries work together, with tours and trails. Now we've got Lucky Bay in Esperance, us in Bremer, Wilsons in Albany and Boston's in Bremer maybe someone could start tours." The building includes some thoughtful design elements that promote a bit of local history as well - from a replica of the very first fishing boat off Albany as the bar, to surfboards from some of the first surfers in WA.
