23.01.2022 HAY FORECAST UPDATE - 11th October Things have been steady for some while now but with a wetter than usual forecast things may be looking good for next year. ... Lucerne ($36) is still the only hay being grown right now and production is slowly ramping up with the warmer weather. Farmers are still relying on bore water so a wet summer is an absolutely necessity or we will be in real trouble. Sheds are largely full of Barley hay ($23) which had a good harvest this winter, and we also secured some Oaten hay ($23) which should be available for a while to come. Once we get some rain we can expect grassy lucerne after around 3-4 weeks and Grassy a few weeks more. Local shedded Grassy hay has been very disappointing this year and we have been bring Grassy hay small square bales from North Queensland ($24). We should be able to continue this supply until local grass is available. GRASSY ROUND BALES We have a reliable supply of good quality 4ft x 4ft round bales at $140 each which we expect to to keep us stocked until the end of the year.

21.01.2022 Yipeee! Lots of chooks coming tomorrow, arriving around 1pm. We'll still keep the 4 chook per customer limit which should make sure we have some through to the weekend. Mostly commercial browns and whites expected.

19.01.2022 PLENTY OF CHOOKS WAITING FOR NEW HOMES THIS WEEKEND ($25 EACH).

17.01.2022 CHOOKS - Only limited numbers of chooks tomorrow (Tuesday 14th July) so will be operating our ticket system from around 9am. Customers will be limited to 2 chooks each. Once collected you can return to the shop after 1pm to collect your girls.

16.01.2022 CHOOKS - We managed to get a few more chooks in the shop looking for homes. First come first served. $25 each. Max 4 per customer.

15.01.2022 HAY UPDATE - 22nd January Rains are here and have helped ease pricing to some extent. There still has not been any significant rains throughout the Lockyer Valley so creeks are not flowing and the water table is not being re-charged for farm pumping from bores. Prime Lucerne ($31) is starting to get a little stalky as it grows faster and we are now seeing some second grade Lucerne ($28). Local Grassy Lucerne ($25) and Grassy ($23) are also now available.... We continue to keep stock of Barley Hay ($23) which is a beardless variety suitable for guinea pigs. GRASSY ROUND BALES We a few lower quality 4ft x 4ft bales in stock which are probably more suited to cows than horses, unless the horse has no access to any grazing. These are $88 each. New grassy rounds will only get baled in the coming few months.

14.01.2022 NO CHOOKS THIS WEEK The hatchery does not have any chooks mature enough for sale so we'll have no chooks coming this week. We hope to get some next Tuesday (4th Aug) and will post confirmation the day before.

14.01.2022 CHOOKS - We have some chooks arriving tomorrow (Tuesday 21st July) but as yet no confirmation on numbers. Most likely the numbers will be low so will be operating our ticket system from around 9am. Customers will be limited to 2 chooks each. Once collected you can return to the shop after 1pm to collect your girls.

06.01.2022 CHOOKS - Only a few chooks coming in tomorrow (Tuesday 18th Aug). We will therefore restrict sales to 2 birds per customer and operate our ticket system from just after opening time (08:30-09:00). First customers to collect tickets can return to collect their chooks when they arrive after lunch.

04.01.2022 We are currently getting a steady, but small supply of chooks every Tuesday afternoon. Actual numbers arriving are not known until the day but in recent weeks we have not sold all the chooks the same day. If interested we suggest calling the shop on a Tuesday after 1pm to find out what has come in. Going forward we are expecting more chooks to be available reflecting more eggs incubated 20-23 weeks ago.

03.01.2022 CHOOKS - We will receive only limited numbers of chooks tomorrow (Tuesday 7th July) so will be operating our ticket system from around 9am. Customers will be limited to 2 chooks each. Once collected you can return to the shop after 1pm to collect your girls.

02.01.2022 BARLEY HAY NOW IN We now have Barley Hay in stock at $30 / bale. This is a beardless variety of barley which reduced the risk of gum damage / abscesses in horses and is suitable for feeding Guinea Pigs. Plastic bags also available for the small animals at $5 / bag.

01.01.2022 Due to pet & animal feed requirements, and as part of the food supply chain (livestock / chickens), Brendale Produce will remain open during to the lockdown restrictions. Anyone visiting the shop will be required wear a mask (limited stock available in store) and we ask that customers use the hand santitiser available at the door. As normal, social distancing must be observed at all times. Deliveries will only be done for emergency or essential animal feed supplies. For example, sugar cane for gardening would not be delivered. If you have not already seen the government post, see below :

01.01.2022 CHOOKS We should get a reasonable number of chooks in tomorrow (Tuesday 4th Aug) so there is no requirement for picking up booking tickets in the morning. The girls will arrive around 1pm and there will be a 4 chook per customer limit to ensure as many as possible get some. Based on recent experience, there should not be a need to get here before the delivery to book a place in the queue.

01.01.2022 OATEN HAY For a limited time we will have Oaten Hay in stock. Oaten Hay is nutritionally similar to Barely Hay and may be more palatable to some horses. $26 / bale. For our Guinea Pig customers we will also be supplying Oaten Hay in bags for $5.
