24.01.2022 One of the most common questions I get asked is..... How do you stay so motivated? How can you enjoy and do everything day in day out? The honest truth being.... I’m NOT always motivated I’m NOT always Inspired I have days that I can’t be bothered training... I don’t want to track my food It’d be easier to get takeaway than to go home and prep my dinner I get home and havn’t hit my steps and the last thing I want to do is go for a walk. The big determining factor with my success doesn’t come down to motivation it comes down to Discipline. That meaning regardless of how I’m feeling, I stick to what I need to do in order to achieve the goals I have set. Your goals won’t throw you a pass card just because you don’t feel like doing it. 17.01.2022 When dieting the following stereotypes should not apply.... 1. You can only lose weight on low carbs 2. I cant eat carbs after 6pm 3. Chicken Broccoli and Rice are a must 4. A Protein shake has to be taken immediately after training.... 5. Diet drinks will give me cancer. 6. I have to have Meals at specific times. 7. Icecream will make me fat 8. I can’t lose weight on 1200 Calories, my metabolism must be broken. 9. I eat healthy but I can’t lose weight. Just a few myths to debunk. A bit more in depth behind them but if anyone tells you the following point them in the direction of a good coach. This food plan as always is just an example but gives a variety delicious meals you can look forward to. One of the key principles to adherence and compliance with people following food plans or creating their own is creating meals they look forward to each and every single time. 05.01.2022 Sometimes the most simplistic changes can be life changing for so many. This is the approach I like to take with people with little basic knowledge or a foundation of Nutrition, exercise and activity. This will often be how I approach family members or friends that aren’t quite as educated or aware of how simple little changes can have such a drastic effect on their health, fitness, mindset and overall well being.... Who else finds giving family or friends advice when they come to you very short lived, leave you often disappointed and simply go back to old ways and habits? It is not their fault but it’s certainly overwhelming and can seem over complicated when we start talking.... - macros - calories - progressive overload - metabolic adaptation - my fitness pal - food tracking - food prep - sleep and supplement hygiene A few very basic things I like to start with and may be something that can help you and your families or friends that struggle.. Te then the following... 1. Get 3-4 servings of fruit and veggies a day 2. Walk 10,000 steps per day 3. Take a 1/4 away from their current intake of take-aways and alcohol consumption for the week. 4. Swap full sugar drinks to sugar free 5. Go to fat free or low fat food options 6. Opt for lean meats 7. Minimise packaged food in their household. 8. If it’s going to tempt your don’t have it in the house. 9. 7 Hours sleep per night 10. 4 litres of water a day. Now as you see none of this has to do with counting calories or macros but innately will not doubt minimise the consumption of energy, increase micro micronutrient intake, Improve their activity level, improve sleep hygiene. Now I wouldn’t expect someone to tick every single one off at the same time but would be important to focus on 2-3 at a time and once regimented incorporate another 2-3.
