14.01.2022 Although wet, it’s still been a fun day for Grade 6 leaders with a hike near the Blue Pools and now onto preparing dinner. Unfortunately the creek was too high to cross but it was still a great walk!

07.01.2022 Grade 6 Leadership Camp was a hit, with students enjoying a range of activities over the 2 days, aimed at building leadership skills and resilience. From hiking, to team building activities, cooking all their meals and dealing with the relentless rain, the students showed great qualities throughout. What made the camp though, was at the end when asked to reflect on the camp, the highlight of the camp was spending quality time with friends. It may be a simple thing, but after a year like 2020, it’s the small things that make our day.

07.01.2022 Dear Parents / Guardians, Thank you for your patience and understanding as we transition back to Flexible and Remote Learning. Below is a list of details that will hopefully clarify important information:... *Laptops and iPads will once again be available for loan. Please contact your teacher ASAP to reserve. Devices will be prepared and able to be picked up on Wednesday morning. Contracts will need to be signed on pick up. *Learning Packs will be ready for collection Wednesday morning. *Teachers will contact you today to organise a Parent/Teacher Conference (Via Webex or Telephone). These conferences will take place this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This will give the Teacher a chance to talk to you one on one, explain the program and answer any questions you may have. *Webex sessions with students will begin next week. These are used for 1 on 1, Small Group sessions and whole class catch ups. *Using feedback from Term 2 remote learning, each Friday will be used as a catch up day, with an Outdoor/Wellbeing rubric being provided as an alternative for students. Teachers’ will be available and planning for the following week on the Friday. If your student has a Webex or Group Session on a Friday, these will still take place. *Teachers will be available for contact throughout different periods of the day depending on their timetable. They will do their best to answer your questions in a timely manner, and please remember they are teaching during these times. Please do not message teachers’ before 7:30am or after 5:00pm. This is their family time and they will not respond. *If you fall under the Essential Worker category and cannot work from home meaning your child cannot be supervised at home, please email me directly at [email protected] *Children on site will be supervised, completing the Remote Learning program set by their class teacher. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school or myself on the email above. We look forward to continuing the learning, albeit remotely! Look out for some fun and engaging challenges that will pop up over the next 6 weeks, as well as our weekly remote assemblies. Kind regards, Mark Donald Principal Briagolong Primary School Phone: 5145 5260

I might have to get the kids to make me all these dishes once we are back (particularly the desserts!) *Assembly will be filmed on Monday. 05.01.2022 The solution to today’s problem. Well done to all those who gave it a go, and congrats to our winners Connor, Connor and Hunter who were the first 3 to correctly answer.

04.01.2022 Remembrance Day 2020. Lest We Forget Picture 1: Every student filled out a ‘messenger bird’, explaining what they are grateful for. These birds are hanging outside the front of the school and will remain there for the time being. ... Picture 2,3,4: A shrine created by the students to commemorate Remembrance Day. Drive by Briag PS tonight and you will see the candles lighting up the jars.

03.01.2022 Love these images. As you rise today, please recognise it is VP (Victory in the Pacific) Day, also known as VJ (Victory Over Japan) Day. It marks the end of WWI...I and today is the 75th anniversary. While the day in 1945 was celebrated, it was overshadowed by an enormous sense of loss. It commemorates Japan's acceptance of the Allied demand for unconditional surrender on August 14, meaning the Second World War was finally over following Germany’s unconditional surrender months earlier. Our services fought in campaigns against Germany and Italy in Europe, the Mediterranean and North Africa, as well as against Japan in south-east Asia and other parts of the Pacific. Just on one million Australians served during the Second World War with over 39,000 making the ultimate sacrifice. The country’s population at the time was only seven million. Approximately 29,000 Australians were taken prisoners of war. Only 14,000 of the 21,467 Australian prisoners taken by the Japanese survived. More than 12,000 veterans of the Second World War are still with us today. I urge you all to take even a few seconds to reflect and say thanks for your service to both those remaining and those who have passed, or tune into ABC from 10am.

03.01.2022 30 minutes of Yoga in 34 seconds! Thanks again to Fin for coming in and doing another awesome yoga session with our Grade 3 to 6 students.
