25.01.2022 Come along to the plant expo tomorrow Kids get into the expo free. I will be doing 2 kids activities in the kid zone Friday and Saturday. Kids make a mini worm farm with worms they dig and discover themselves, using upcycled milk bottles.... And special bug investigation, where kids study and learn about insects, using powerful illuminated magnifiers to study specimens encased in resin and live worms, worm cocoons and beneficial composting bugs. Also included, a special treat, living spiny leaf stick insects, supplied courtesy of natalie the stick insect lady (details available on request) Also experience: Two activities by kate from the messy play company, And andy with the tomato patch program by little green thumbs. Special entry only to the kid zone for selected school groups on the friday during school time. Public entry in the kid zone friday from 3pm to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 4pm. 19.01.2022 For my work with the Brisbane City Council Master Composters program and associated composting hubs, I was among those awarded the "BCC Compost Champions" award for 2019 :) I was employed to teach the worm farming & Black Soldier Fly components of the course and I am also participating in the program, so I can be a BCC Certified Master Composter :)

16.01.2022 Something that people are very curious about is how I can have worm castings for sale, as they havent ever seen much come from their home worm farm. Heres one of my WEDGE systems, before harvesting. Thats 17 x 15 litre buckets I harvested today. This is finished VC that passes through a 6.5mm trommel screen - the "overs" go back in the worm farms. Im probably only a third way through this WEDGE harvest :)... If your home worm farm needs help, try reading the free guide on my website. Theres probably things youre not doing as well as you could, or things you misunderstand, that you can easily fix, if you just knew the right way to do it :) The free guide can be found at www.thewormman.com.au/faq

In the second one, kids use magnifiers to investigate resin encased bugs, live worms, live worm cocoons & live beneficial composting bugs. 13.01.2022 BOATING & FISHING UPDATE Media Statements Minister for Transport and Main Roads... The Honourable Mark Bailey Tuesday, March 31, 2020 Fishing and essential boat use to continue Queensland boaties can still take their boats out locally to fish or travel for essential reasons. Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey clarified the rules for boaties as the evolving COVID-19 response restricted a range of activities. If you own a boat and want to head out in the water in your local community to fish for food this weekend, you can, Mr Bailey said. If you need your boat to travel locally in your community, you can still do that. If you want to head out on your kayak or stand up paddle board for exercise, you still can. State Government boat ramps will remain open to boaties. We want people to continue living their lives as normally as possible under the current circumstances, but the advice of the Chief Health Officer needs to be followed. No one should be leaving their home unless its absolutely necessary. Mr Bailey said recent national directives limiting public gatherings to two people or less and limiting travel to essential purposes still applied. This isnt a special rule to let people out on the water for non-essential reasons this weekend, Mr Bailey said. Theres no reason for anyone to be taking the boat out unless its for essential travel to get to work, to and from your home, to local shops for provisions or catching fish for your family. Even then, there should be no more than two people, or immediate family members on board, and the social distancing rules everyone is being asked to follow still apply. Boaties should also be mindful of hygiene when putting boats in the water at public facilities. Mr Bailey encouraged boaties to continue monitoring the national health advice on COVID-19. As the nation works together to stop the spread of the virus, there is new advice daily. Boaties should be aware of the current restrictions on boat use, and be prepared for that advice to change again, should tougher rules to limit public movements and interaction come in. 12.01.2022 The latest advice from Queensland Health is to #StayHomeSaveLives so we strongly encourage everyone to stay home as much as possible and avoid gatherings that a...rent essential. Queensland boaties can still take their boats out locally to fish for food or travel for essential reasons. Public gatherings such as fishing are limited to 2 people (other than your direct household). If you do choose to go fishing, stay close to home, keep a distance of 1.5 m from others and practise good hygiene, especially when fuelling up and at boat ramps. State Government boat ramps will remain open to boaties. Boaties should also be mindful of hygiene when putting boats in the water at public facilities. At this point in time, QBFP officers are still patrolling and fishing rules remain in place. QBFP are avoiding close contact, conducting interviews and discussions on open deck, cleaning their hands frequently and have sanitisers on all vessels and cleaning all internal components of vessels. If anything changes, we will be sure to let you know, but for now, do your part to slow the spread. This advice is current as of 31 March 2020 and may change in response to new or amended CHO Health Directions and the governments response to stopping the spread of COVID-19.
