23.01.2022 **** MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT **** Hello All, Welcome to season 20/21. ... Firstly I would like personally thank Richard Tankard, Mark Hooper and Matt Adamson who have stepped down from committee roles for the upcoming season. As we all know sporting clubs require countless hours of work by people invested in the club to ensure growth, development and success across all areas on and off the field. All three have contributed countless hours over the past few seasons to ensure the Workers Gol Gol Cricket Club is well placed moving forward. All will no doubt in some-way contribute to 20/21 so again thank-you from all associated with WGCC. Season 20/21 is shaping to be a season unlike any we have experienced before due to the COVID-19 health pandemic. As a border community we are currently faced with the extra challenge of the border restrictions which may have an impact at the start of the season. The committee have been involved in discussions with the SCA regarding the upcoming season to get an insight into the structure and format of the season. To date the SCA are planning to commence the season on Saturday the 17th of October 2020 this however is subject to the current restrictions. The SCA will be holding a meeting on Monday the 14th of September 2020 to discuss various options for the upcoming season. The SCA will then speak to club presidents to discuss the season proposals. At present the WGCC committee have endorsed at this stage to plan for the commencement of the season on the 17th of October. We will keep you informed of progress. With the potential start date of the 17th of October 2020 I would like to formally announce that Adam Thomson has been endorsed by the committee to again take on the role of Senior Coach. Adam has led all four senior sides into the finals over the past two seasons and has accepted the role for this season. Adam will shortly communicate the upcoming season training program, which will incorporate the SCA and Cricket Victoria COVID training requirements. I congratulate Adam once again on the appointment and look forward to working with him over the season. I would also like to announce on behalf of the committee that Peta Ferguson will be performing the role of Junior President for season 20/21. The junior program continues to grow each season and the role of Junior President will be pivotal to ensure our junior program is well structured and focused on the development of our juniors. I would like to conclude in stating that while the President role is new to me Myself and the elected committee are dedicated to ensure that club continues to grow in all areas on field Seniors and Juniors both male and female and off field. We may initially have some restrictions at the commencement of season however we certainly have the structure in place to be successful across all levels again this season. Regards, Daron Hulls WGGCC President

22.01.2022 Work for the coming season started on the centre square. Scarifying, a mow and repairs on the irrigation system. A top dress and a drink is next on the cards.

21.01.2022 Prior to the start of todays 1st Division game, our gun batsmen Wade Hancock was presented with last season's Les Innes Medal for the MVP of Sunraysia Cricket. Last season saw Wade dominate with the bat, putting together 715 runs @ 59.58. In recent times, it has been rare for a player in SCA to win the Innes Medal playing solely as a batsmen or bowler, with most winners being all-rounders. This shows just how consistent Wade's 2019/20 season with the bat was. Well done and congratulations on a well deserved achievement!

21.01.2022 After a washout last weekend, Vaughan McClure got to make his First Division debut today against Mildura Settlers. Vaughan has played for WGGCC as a junior and has played seniors since the 2014/15 season. Vaughan lives in Robinvale and has travelled many miles over the last few years showing his dedication to the game and our club. In today's game against Setts Vaughan took 2 for 10, including a wicket with his first ball whilst also taking a catch. The first wicket was captured in the video below. Well done VK!

04.01.2022 Hello All, This Saturday the 19th of December will be our last round of cricket before Christmas. At the end of last season we faced an uncertain future due to the health pandemic. It has been a relief to many across the community that the game of cricket was able to commence, albeit with a different structured season across Senior and Junior Levels. The number of players that have attended training given the initial restrictions has been fantastic, with results showing acr...oss all Senior and Junior levels. The cricket club will once again be in a strong position to push towards finals. Our first function 'A Night in The Outfield' was attended by 100 people - which given the conditions was a great number. All enjoyed a fantastic meal by Peter Webley and entertainment from Jett. The feedback received has been extremely positive and I again thank all of our valued sponsors who contributed to the event as well all of those who dedicated time in preparing for and assisting during the function. We will shortly announce our functions for the New Year. Due to the circumstances at the end of season 2019/20 the club was unable to hold award presentations. As this Thursday the 17th of December will be the last training night prior to Christmas - the club will present all awards for last season as well as the Woolworths Blast awards for this season. The kitchen and bar will again be open. I also believe that a visit from Santa will also occur during the night - so please ensure you can all make it this Thursday. Lastly to all players, coaches, parents, sponsors and supporters, on behalf of the Workers Gol Gol Cricket Club committee, I would like to wish all a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year. Regards Daron Hulls President

01.01.2022 ***** 100 FOR WADE! ***** What an innings from our star batsmen Wade Hancock yesterday! Wade blasted our first century of the season with 102 not out off just 76 balls against Merbein South in yesterdays T20 win. An incredible effort from Wade considering the over limit, as he continues to impress us with his ability to consistently perform for the team. Amazing!
